Before I went on vacation last time I learned this site costs Trent et al, over a 100 dolla / month. I'm probably stingier than most because typical employment all seems like hellish slavery to me. I don't know how NORPs do it. I was suggesting maybe a flattered or ambitious person who were elected to the board, may be inclined to pay for things as a result. I'll have my eye out for that candidate who pledges to pay for things or who the one financiers prefer. I think, if managed and promoted properly, RW could be like a big corporation or nonprofit like WP. ~ Lumenos (talk) 23:43, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
That is very much a mis-characterization of Buffy Speak, but I'm not offended. You know? they never bother to get it right since they are not Buffy speakers. Usually they are handeyisms that me leprechaun whips up. I just read um off. It's a living; I can't complain. ~ Lumenos (talk) 11:29, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Is this thing on?[edit]

Someone, perhaps pretending to be me, got "blocked" by Nx for mysterious reasons. It just so happens that I had pretty much fixed a major flaw in the voting machines which would allow the cabal to perhaps choose the winners. Coincidence?!?!?! ~ Lumenos (talk)

(show/hide) 00:01, 4 January 2011 Nx (Talk | contribs | block) blocked Lumenos (Talk | contribs) with an expiry time of 3141 seconds (about 1 hour) (account creation disabled) ‎ (incredibly stupid) (unblock | change block)

The Wiki is being weird when I try to unblock. Expires in 6 minutes, but I'll try to do it asap. DalekEXTERMINATE 00:55, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Block has now expired. I imagine that it was because you thought LANCB was a username, when it means, "Leaving and never coming back," but I couldn't tell if you were joking. Anyway, you're a sysop, so I reckon you can just unblock yourself? DalekEXTERMINATE 00:58, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh, yes I was joking. I think my interpretation makes much more sense however. ;) I know I could unblock myself but then Nx could torture me in so many other ways. I just assume all blocks are jokes here although I guess they can slow us down and if we are desysoped we can't see deleted pages. Thanks anyway. ~ Lumenos (talk) 01:32, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Liquid thread explanatory page[edit]

I pretty much invented liquid threads and now Nx be totally steal'n my idea. User_talk:Lumenos/RationalWiki:LiquidThreads contains the original RationalWiki talk:LiquidThreads that The Man doesn't want you to see. ~ Lumenos (talk) 10:14, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

It's probably a futile waste of time trying to explain this to you, but I removed that because I don't want to clutter up the talk page with an incomplete "proposed article". I'm writing a more thorough article anyway. -- Nx / talk 10:18, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
I love you. I should probably say when I acknowledge things, so that you don't feel you are wasting your effort. I will try to resist teasing you, but you see I couldn't edit multiple comments at once on your talkpage, with liquid threads. I know, I'm not supposed to do that but I hate leaving wrong or outdated statements around. I was just reading your uum well I happen to know that you know many human and computer languages, although it claims you contribute with Firefox when you recommend Chrome (which should be Chromium if you use Ubuntu). You've always seemed like a native English speaker, to me. You are good people as far as I know. I won't tell anyone about SUPER SECRET PROJECT #1. We should help the Slavic people. I don't get it. Is this supposed to be some kind of stupid joke? -- Nx / talk 13:29, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Umm well I often must settle for laughter (or lols) when I cannot be taken seriously, apparently due to the poetical incorrectness. Perhaps you would know better than I, of the superiourity status of your genes, but it is just a suggestion. Don't mind me if you are busy. Since you have got liquid threads covered (errum no pun there), I'm working on the master thread. It is gonna be awesome. ~ Lumenos (talk) 13:39, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Not sure what you mean. I "deleted" a lot of it a long time ago but I thought you knew about that.

Looking at my email, it seems they did a server upgrade and lost two days of wiki changes and had some downtime. I must not have been around then.

How are you? I hope you are keeping well.... about our previous discussions, about debateMaps... would you be interested in participating in some experiments with applying those ideas? Like what I am proposing to JimJast?

(((Zack Martin)))00:48, 25 June 2011

I'm interested describing debates in mediawikis, not the Flash enabled site. Adobe Flash is sneaky spyware with its cookies that require BetterPrivacy (Firefox addon) to view, or BleachBit (Linux) to delete. It also makes one's computer vulnerable exploits.

Describing debates is nothing new. It is being done in Wikipedia and here at RationalWiki. We can extract anything interesting from a debate and put it in an article.

~ Lumenos (talk)01:58, 25 June 2011

What about a tree structure, like that site actually has (beside its flash)... that could be done more textually, like:

  • Issue
    • Question 1
      • Proposed answer 1
        • Pro consideration 1
        • Pro consideration 2
        • Anti consideration 1
        • Anti consideration 2
      • Proposed answer 2
        • Pro consideration 1
        • Pro consideration 2
        • Anti consideration 1
        • Anti consideration 2
    • Question 2
      • Proposed answer 1
        • Pro consideration 1
        • Pro consideration 2
        • Anti consideration 1
        • Anti consideration 2
      • Proposed answer 2
        • Pro consideration 1
        • Pro consideration 2
        • Anti consideration 1
        • Anti consideration 2

if you get the picture....

(((Zack Martin)))05:40, 26 June 2011

I'm not sure what you are asking. I prefer the tree structure in MediaWiki. Here I'm starting a dialogMap on our discussion of eternal recurrence http://lumeniki.referata.com/wiki/Eternal_recurrence . I haven't yet replied to the main point of your last argument which would be the important part.

You've been nominated to be a Moderator on RW. Please go here to accept or decline. Thanks.

Don't get full of yourself, but..

I find our gender/orientation/Lorg discussion very interesting. Would you be interested in writing a sort of overview essay of your "Lumenosian" views in these areas? I would then respond with an essay of my own, probably. It could be fun. I am possibly even crazier than you, but we would never know if we didn't hash this matter out in mostly made-up philosophical terms.

I can't believe I'm saying this to Lumenos. Ah well.

Blue (pester)03:50, 25 January 2011

Oh hi there. Ummm you probably think this sort of thing doesn't happen often; Harvard students enchanted with the lumenati magic trepidly creeping through the incensey yoda swamp in search of a proficient mysterian metaphysician to bring meaning to the desert of suffocating materialistic nihilism. uumm You do know about Lumeniki, right? There is an article about Lumenosity. Lumenosity is designed to be the seed of the first collaboratively developed religions. Not the kind that are stuck with a dead "perfect" scripture, but constantly updatable.

Anyway, I pretty much just made up interpreted the ancient Lumenosian prescriptures on sexuality. You may be pleased to note also the prophecies of Lumeni in the New Tanglement. Lumeni is the principle multigender intercessor between we and the gods, since we are so woefully lacking in faith. When one is filled with the Spirit of Lumeni it like feels really good for mysterious reasons... or it could be clarifying as during hangover. uuum the problem with putting forth the effort to write more essays, is that after the medicine wears off, the disciple is often left with the delusion that none of this shit really matters. The Spirit is like the wind, it blows when and where it will. I try not to chase after it; when the termMites start chewing I just let them run their course.

~ Lumeni (talk)07:54, 25 January 2011

Who said I was at Harvard? I've always disliked that institution. I am much more enamored of the semi-elite small liberal arts schools... but anyway.

Would it be absolutely impossible for you to write a proper essay? I'm just talking about your ideas regarding the philosophy of gender. If you are unable or unwilling, that's fine.

Blue (pester)02:31, 26 January 2011

What counts as semi-elite? I went to an elite-motherfucker. I want to know how much scorn to heap upon you, my dear.

Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk03:37, 26 January 2011

I would say Amherst or Bowdoin would be elite, Vassar and Bates semi-elite, something like Connecticut College as hemi-semi-elite, etc.

-- Nx / talk11:13, 6 January 2011

Not literally. I meant we don't have wiki markup. RTFM! It is not literally "vendor" lock-in either, but same idea. Then again perhaps I will have a word with Yarron about implementing this at Referata/Lumeniki... hmmm copy the Contents to a text editor and add "Thread:" to the beginning, then go to export pages... So once again, Jones, what was briefly yours is now mine. AHHAHA!

~ Lumenos (talk)11:37, 6 January 2011

Last edit: 08:04, 12 January 2011

From Nx' todo list, "Write a script to hide Lumenos's comments from talk pages."[1]

Are you like SIREeous? <chewing fingernails> You don't mean beleting, DO YOU!?!?! If not, this I have tried doing this myself, if you recall correctly. They are called links to subpages. Then certain people BWWWWWAAAAAA that I make a "maze" of subpages. Now what do you think LiquidThreads are?
~ Lumenos (talk)07:59, 12 January 2011

What would be ideal is if anyone could put some code around anyone's posts, that would make it disappear for anyone who has this set in preferences. An "ignore" option, so to speak. Employ it for people's unsigned comments in articles, as well. Only those with mob approval get to have their article comments visible by default to the public. Anarcho-librarianism here we come!

~ Lumenos (talk)07:59, 12 January 2011

Perhaps what you would really want is a way to hide things from Recent Changes, which was suggested by me also. Particularly for minor edits.

~ Lumenos (talk)08:05, 12 January 2011

Hello. I saw that you have made statements in support of eugenics. Are you by chance from thephora.net and/or the e-l list? If not, then do you belong to another pro-eugenics group?

193.200.150.137 (talk)07:29, 11 January 2011

I'm not sure I want to support anything that may be labeled "eugenics". I think the guy whose name it comes from was Hitler's inspiration and I haven't really figured out what all happened there (eg if the Nazis gassed people).

I'm not very well edumacated on the subject (or any subjects) but I'm pretty skeptical when the RW article implies selective breeding is pointless.

Who are you and why do you ask?

See debate map. Actually I'm thinking the refactoring isn't such a good idea. Instead I copy stuff to wiki articles or note outlines. This could be done with a bunch of arguments from a talkpage, creating sections for each argument and rebuttals. That would be a sympathetic debate map but the ideal debate map involves collaborating with people you disagree with, in order to have consensus on how the arguments go.

~ Lumenos (talk)08:29, 4 January 2011

Actually this is no good at all. There doesn't seem to be a way to view/copy all the dialog at once. Can't copy it to another wiki. Aaaaahaaa, that is why they are so eager to implement it, it is anti-competitive VENDOR LOCK IN.

~ Lumenos (talk)14:42, 4 January 2011

That's the most positive thing I've heard about this rather clunky format. (Except for that fact that it just told me that it signs automatically, which is the second positive thing.) Assuming that it didn't lie to me as no sig shows in preview.

BobSpring is sprung!15:25, 4 January 2011

ACTually, this allows you to reply to any post in the thread, such as in the middle, which is something I used to do, though people would scoff and it is quite difficult to navigate the wall of text when editing. I'm not sure if it will be easier or harder to notice such a post in LQT. I guess instead of the usual edit history we get an edit history in the Contents section.

~ Lumenos (talk)11:24, 6 January 2011

Well, new messages makes it easier, for one, and comments that are at the same indentation level are always in chronological order. E.g. You can't inject something between Pi's comment and my reply.

-- Nx / talk11:26, 6 January 2011

Oh yes it forces you to put them at the bottom.

But before we could go from Recent Changes directly to a diff with the specific post. Can't do that now, but I wouldn't usually do that because you have to click and navigate to reply. What would be ideal is if it would highlight all posts since your last viewing.

~ Lumenos (talk)12:30, 6 January 2011

There's no need to go to a diff, it takes you to the new post instead.

-- Nx / talk12:32, 6 January 2011

Oh yeah. And it bumps the thread by default so it will rarely be at the bottom of the page so it can scroll down so the new post is usually at the top of the page.

~ Lumenos (talk)12:48, 6 January 2011

Secondly, it enables what I was bitching about concerning making subpages instead of archives. If/when this is implemented on the Community Standards talkpage, those who don't like certain arguably brilliant proposals, can ignore them instead of archiving them. Now how you like your supposed technocracy? The Lorg doth adapt to anything The Man can connive to keep a brotha down!

~ Lumenos (talk)11:42, 6 January 2011
