Just saying
It works!
My evil plan to make your horrible system with notes and stuff obsolete is up and running:
Doesn't work on lqt though...
Then you'll need to copy the script over to your own userspace, and change where it says 'User:PeterL/ex' to your own page 'o phrases.
Or, I could modify the script...
ED: OK, just add the importscript line and create your own User:Mikalos209/ex page with the same format as mine. Much simpler than notes galore.
Why yes I'm working on fixing tone problems in other articles. I don't have to finish before we can recognize the merit of a good edit to the D'souza article. Stop reverting a good edit.
telling us off for wanting two unequal status's to be equal
So basically you're saying "stop having an opinion that isn't ours".
did i say that? no. But your acting like there isnt a problem when there is; american civil unions are not viewed as equal to marriages; and they aren't. you telling us "why are you complaining" just makes you look like an ass
Yeah, except that I conceded quite early on that the US is different and I was talking from a NZ POV, and then asked if you'd make the same argument if you lived in NZ where civil unions are the same as marriage.
I think the heat of the arguement was getting to me then :/ sorry , personally i'd only take issue if marriage was still seen as better.
But here's the thing. is the NZ thing REALLY equal? Can gays marry? That's all I want to know. or are they too different to be allowed to marry?
I can barely believe it - Mikalos disagreeing with Ace. Not only that but you're on the right side of the argument too. It's like watching a butterfly emerge from a cocoon - a sycophantic cocoon. Well done mate; incidentally I want blacks to have all the advantages of marriage, but they really can't use our word can they? When was the last time you saw a bride walk down the aisle in a black dress? QED.
5 min block
I'm well aware that comments get accidentally erased, perhaps even without getting noticed. But it took me a couple of minutes to find the error and to correct it, so I thought it would be only fair to block you for an equal amount of time.
Rules
I don't think it is up to you to decide what other people have or have not on their own talkpages and I would leave that to user. You know RW has very few actual written rules.
We actually do have very specific written rules on this point, hammered out during our massive brawls; posts are not to be altered or removed from talk-pages, with the following exceptions: (1) posts from blocked users, (2) obviously vile trolling comments, and (3) personal attacks posted on a user's talk-page, if removed by that user.
Curiosity
Could you perhaps tell me what it is about me you find so worthy of contempt, as you mentioned here?
I personally think that any charges against me are greatly exaggerated, if not false.
I change mine periodically when they start to get boring. I SUBST them for posterity, unlike other people who had some truly fantastic sigs but refused to SUBST them, resulting in only their current, rather dull sig.
Rob and tornados
What did he say? Can't find anything...
Powers. Back Now. Please.
Thanks.
So now they're useful, eh?
i had actually considered removing my sysop rights during my attempted 30 minute cool down, and i noticed that except for my own self-giving of auto patrolled rights, my rights log consisted one one event: my sysop :D,
Oh, they're useful. Just as soon as he gets them back, he gets to use them to needlessly block all my backup accounts!
User rights: great for harassing people you don't like.
I don't care that he doesn't like me. He's shown his true colors long ago, and I don't like him either. I haven't done anything wrong, I haven't broken any rules, and I'm getting picked on regardless.
It doesn't matter that I'm unpopular. Popularity is not a factor in justice.
i swear im going to force him to stop if thats what it takes.
Great. So you're going to unilaterally block me for no good reason after my rights were removed for no good reason. Just great
no, im going to block you so you can SHUT UP and and stop damning yourself. if somebody wants to take me to task for doing you a damn favor and saving yourself thats on them, but i actually dont have you enough to just shoot you in the street, yet.
"don't edit"
You know, they can easily just use random page or something. Putting a moratorium on editing won't solve a thing.
So, when did you join the anti-Obama club?
Since you evidently are in agreement with A Schlalfy that Barack Obama's Christianity is in question, you are aware the Creationist website godand science.org calls Satan a son of God? Besides Andy, perhaps you are also in agreement with User:Maratrean about Mormons b that eleiving "Jesus is a separate person from God the Father, and, given we are God's literal children, he is quite literally the Son of God. If a man is a good, when he grows up (i.e. dies), God will turn him into a God..."
Why did you revert the posting, other than you are a covert pro-Andy and CP operative trying to cover up unfair and deliberately biased criticism of our President?
Hebrew Gendering
OK I can't do this anymore via blocking. hehe.
So hebrew has a gender for every noun, just like French, Spanish, and Russian. French and German, as examples, give nouns gender based on - well, I don't know what and I don't think any one else does. But some languages, like Russian and Semitic languages base the gender on the sound of the noun. in russian, for example, anything that ends in a consonant is a "male" gendered noun, and things that end in "a" or "ee" are female. (there a few other rules, that I forget). So the drive to name a god a "he" or "she" is dependent on how the word is pronounced, and not that people see it as having balls and other boy parts.
There is no doubt that YHWH the war god is a boy, but Elohime there is no indication that it ever was seen as a physical dude or dudette in teh way YHWH was. And Shekina is very much a female "thing" though again, not a dude or dudette in any personhood way.
war god? elohime? WHAT IS THIS HERSEY. YAHWEH HAS AND ALWAYS WAS THE GOD!
but hm, interesting. Danke for sharing me this^_^ although what led you to learn it?
Most non-christian scholars see a somewhat typical group of gods in the Hebrew myths that match gods in Sumerian myths, Assyrian myths, and other Semitic groups. If you break the Torah into the two scrolls, the image of a very early YHWH-War god is pretty evident. he says almost the exact same thing as Ba'al and Assur in various myths. and there are theories about other goddesses that are maybe mentioned, including lilath. Theories that Rebecca or Ester might have been goddesses at one point, humanized as the God become monotheistic and male. but that's all speculation - the stuff about the women.
"how did I learn this". 9 years of school plus nearly 10 years teaching it. Though technically my field is Native American religion and theology, to do that field required a huge amount of xian theology. Plus, myths are da' bomb. I dig them. :-)
ahh :P
and yah, i know, i just like assuming x role of most follower man every a lot :P
im actually interested in pre-monotheistic Israelite religion, a topic that finding out about thanks to... well... monotheism relies on finding remnants or archaeology nobody can dig.
i do know that yahweh isnt the omnipotent thing he is claimed to be; given he couldnt take the plains from the iron chariot men
YHWH is also very limited by some kind of unwritten rules. He cannot "find" adam in the garden. He must kill people just to get his way. he's an amoral jerk quite often, by the way.
Pre-monotheistsic isrelite religion is a trip and a half. What we "know" (informed guess, might be the best term) is pretty extensive, actually. Not that any Christians and only a few Jews will likely EVER agree with what is found. :-) God has always been one and only one.
I've always played around with (on a non published level) 'how one becomes monothesitic", and it's almost always "science" that is in my answer. We begin to understand that lightening is not a god; that rain is not a god; children come from sex, etc., and that pushes "gods" father away. and as they are more and more removed, they cease being so human, and become something more "universal". To the point that today, if there are any religious folk in science, their "god" is almost as removed from a personal god as you can get. "creator", "first mover", "part of everything" etc.
"YHWH is also very limited by some kind of unwritten rules." The rules of the mind, you mean. God's powers seem to be limited by his own believers' imaginations.
speaking of the push to monotheism... in my religion... or maybe my history class i had last semester; my teacher gave out the idea that the push to monotheism was possibly related to the exile; as a crisis point where the Israelite's had to deal with the fact "Our god/gods lost, how do we deal with this" and the idea that it was go further into monotheism (from what looks like henotheism at best) or abandon Yahweh and pick the better, victorious gods.
For what it's worth (and I realize that I'm coming to this a little), even mainstream Christian scholars acknowledge this, or at least the ones I took religious studies courses from did. Some of those professors were also ordained clergy, too.
It really depends on who the scholar is, but yeah, most accept that there are natural language differences which limit things like "what physical gender is a god, if the word itself has a gender".
