Thanks for the help. Just wondering why exactly you stopped by. Bit of a surprise, actually. RoninMacbeth (talk) 15:39, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
I saw this b/c clicked wrong diff, heroically swooped in to help. :P FuzzyCatPotato!™ (talk/stalk) 15:51, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Well then thanks for the assistance. Cheers, RoninMacbeth (talk) 15:55, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello

Who's Mona? I hear a lot about the user here and there but have no idea what the deal is/was. Not looking for a novel, I'm just vaguely curious. B) talk 04:35, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm pretty new here, but what I've been able to tell is that she and two other users, Arisboch and Avenger of the BoN, got in an argument over Israel/Palestine that continued for months. Arisboch was banned because I think he doxxed Mona, Avenger and Mona were binned because of their edit warring, then Mona kind of went...off. She started some kind of Twitter war with the wiki, only recently returning to work on her Targeted Individual article. That's all I know about it. If you want more details, look at the Chicken coops from January to September, or Avenger's, Arisboch's, PBFreespace's, and Mona's user pages. Or ask FCP/Weaseloid/RBP/Ombud's Man. Hope this helps. RoninMacbeth (talk) 05:07, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
But, probably more relevant to your inquiry, she was a Bernie Sanders supporter who loathed Hillary Clinton. I was on the side that Clinton could be trusted, but I came around to Owlman and Mona's view when Trump won. RoninMacbeth (talk) 05:24, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! Kind of an odd and lazy question, really. Sorry about that. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I read some of the threads. Were you just lurking as a BON and munching popcorn while the shit splattered? I'd have liked to ask Lauro (despite a few pointed words between us recently) but I waited too long... s/he seemed like the most directly involved of those 4 you suggested asking, but got banned shortly before you made an account here. B) talk 06:22, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Oh yeah. I had a lot of fun reading through the I/P debacle. Wait, Lauro's banned? Damn. RoninMacbeth (talk) 06:27, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Whoops, nope, just binned and de-mopped. Hasn't been back since, though. B) talk 06:40, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Pardon the late reply

Though, better late than never. All the best, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 16:17, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Sorry! Yeah, I saw it. I'm going to have a lot of videos queued up to watch over the break. Thanks, RoninMacbeth (talk) 02:37, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

It's pretty easy to set up a page for archiving -- check RW:ARC, just a copy-paste job. FuzzyCatPotato!™ (talk/stalk) 19:54, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

Heart of Darkness

Jeff Lemire does a pretty twist with Sweet Tooth. Gets a better artist than him during the reveal. Don't know how you are about spoilers, but it's a better story to everyone whose read Conrad's short sight on it.Gaul Dernitt (talk) 07:10, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out when I get some time. Cheers, RoninMacbeth (talk) 14:04, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Vandal bin

We don't vandal bin IPs.—(((CheeseburgerFace))) (talk) 23:51, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

OK. Then why does it say to insert "IP Address or Username" for the vandal brake? Is it just outdated? RoninMacbeth (talk) 00:03, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Probably the default message from MediaWiki that the sys-admin(s) never bothered changing.—(((CheeseburgerFace))) (talk) 00:06, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Just so I know in the future, how do we deal with IP vandals? RoninMacbeth (talk) 00:21, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Responding to an old comment here but usually I just block them for an hour, if they come back after the hour's up block them for 3.6 days. Christopher (talk) 16:15, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Protecting your talk page

Why? Christopher (talk) 15:50, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Paranoid. Grawp. Sorry. Also, I'm going to be gone for probably a couple of weeks. You'll revert if he vandalizes my stuff, right? RoninMacbeth (talk) 15:52, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Anything by Grawp is reverted (even if it isn't wandalism) otherwise we're not properly enforcing the block. Christopher (talk) 16:12, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

..

Can you give me sysop back? Curiosity got the better of me and I was testing if I could remove my own sysop-ship. Surprise you can and now I can't give it back to myself xD. I've given it back, I did the same thing when I became a tech. Christopher (talk) 18:39, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Sorry I couldn't see your message earlier! I was busy writing for one of DD1's drafts. RoninMacbeth (talk) 18:41, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Nah it's fine dude it's literally been like two minutes since I asked. KoiDevelopment (thanks, Love!) 18:43, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Oh, my sweet summer's child

Just thought you ought to be made aware that today, FAMAS decided to use the very sysop tools you had previously endowed him with to try and disbarr me from my elected office (in the aftermath of having been reprimanded for repeatedly edit warring against Christopher). Facepalm.png

In IT security generally, this mode of illicit control is known as 'priviliege de-escalation'. The basic principle goes something like this: while you may not be able to crown yourself king, stripping the current monarch of his office (effectively vacating the throne) may do well on its own. (In this case: stopping others from stopping him would've sufficiently enabled continued shitposting on FAMAS' part.)

Colloquially, priviliege de-escalation is a bit like a freshly backseat-confined drunken arrestée deciding to lock the arresting officer out of his own squad car (if only momentarily).

Assuming the arrestée is able to contort himself to the pedals and actually drive away in said police cruiser (read: actually holds sufficient priviliege to de-escalate his target), the abuse potential is vast (though, short-lived). I need not tell you that even attempting any of this is super-duper illegal and does not happen by accident.

As such, in the case of FAMAS, he misunderestimated the relative position of sysop alone in RW's metaphorical priviliege hierarchyWikipedia's W.svg. While sysop lets you do much, including desysopping others (read: de-escalating their priviliege) — which FAMAS successfully did to me — I also happen to belong to other domains of right.

While I did fully lose sysop at his hands (momentarily), my other credentials nullified this loss (and thus FAMAS' advance). In the arrest analogy: regardless of the arrestée fiddling with the locks from the inside, the outside police officer luckily had spare keys on hand.

I need not point out that it matters little who unlocks the car door again. All that matters is who perpetrated the locking, no matter how briefly. The attempt is the crime.

Now, you're not at fault for FAMAS' misuse of his bargained sysop tools, of course. You tried to reel him in, and besides — you did what I always try to do, by giving him a second chance.

But self-destruction is quite hard to reason others out of. As such, all the advice I could give you now regarding future interactions with this particular user (i.e. with FAMAS; pun intended) is — don't save him; he don't wanna be saved. All the best, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 10:27, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

I go away for a few days, and THIS happens. What the hell?! RoninMacbeth (talk) 13:11, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Seven. Bytes. An edit war. Attempted desopping. A ban and bin. All for seven. FUCKING. BYTES?!RoninMacbeth (talk) 16:26, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

If you google school secession

The secession effort in the Bay Area (Northgate) has risen to the top result. Apparently there are county hearings on it next month...-💎📀1️⃣ (talk) 19:52, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Alright, I'll check it out. Thanks! Th hug.gif RoninMacbeth (talk) 02:23, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

section name here

I added a new section to the school segregation draft. I think you'll find it interesting. Let me know what you think! -💎📀1️⃣ (talk) 04:33, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

It's interesting, and not surprising in the slightest. So what's the majority race of the students at Bancroft? RoninMacbeth (talk) 05:20, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
50.5 % white. Huh. The "best" part is that Bancroft is more diverse than the average Walnut Creek school. Apparently, that's a bar the Walnut Creek district seems intent on lowering even farther. RoninMacbeth (talk) 05:23, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
Bancroft is actually the most diverse school in the entire proposed district, however the middle and high school are 60% and 63% white respectively. Bancroft is located close to the border with Walnut Creek's poorer neighbor Concord, explaining why Oak Grove and Ygnacio Valley are way poorer (they're in Concord)-💎📀1️⃣ (talk) 05:39, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
Figured. Unsurprisingly, people are defending segregation. You could add the video to this article. RoninMacbeth (talk) 05:46, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
Got it.-💎📀1️⃣ (talk) 06:14, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
