[edit] Hi

How are you, anyway? Mei III (talk) 20:43, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Sysoppery

As it has been 3 days, you have a pulse, and you actually seem to care about the site, here is your mop. ТyTalk. 21:03, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] You don't have e-mail enabled

I'd like to get in touch. P-Foster (talk) 20:14, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

I think that PFoster and I are thinking the same thing. EddyP Great King! Disaster! 20:22, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
I edited with her or as Him for about 6 months but I decided that circumstances required me to edit as I now do. Not with the same vehemence as she but with much the same outlook. --Scream!! (talk) 20:27, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
You can probably count the number of times I talked to her even over Saloon Bar threads on the fingers of one hand, but it's sad to see her go. I know she didn't believe in a better place but if there is one I hope she's in it. Anyway, unless you say otherwise we ought to bring this to people's attention, but as I didn't know her well I don't think it would be appropriate for me to do so, and I'm not sure where it would be best to tell people. EddyP Great King! Disaster! 20:47, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
I wouldn't bother. sic transit gloria mundi. (The wiki is awfully slow!) --Scream!! (talk) 20:56, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Look,

I don't mean to sound short, but instead of being cryptic and smart-assy, is there any way you can clarify what's happened, preferably with a link to something in the paper or something? This is a community of sorts, and internet friendships are still frienships of a sort, and it would be nice to know what's going on with someone really important to a lot of us. Thanks. P-Foster (talk) 22:07, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

She died in late February & was cremated shortly thereafter. She had no relatives and few friends and, as you know, no religious hangups, so there was no service or anything. I should be able to point you to a register of deaths but can't find it at the moment, I'll keep looking. She had been very ill for a couple of months, at least since Christmas, and I know she loved RW I kept using her ID here for a while but realised that it wasn't very clever so I stopped. I live almost next door and was using her broadband WiFi and changed when I got my own. I have her laptop (complete with duff "y" key) and archives of all her pictures & stuff. Sorry if I've upset anyone. Her partner (Marghanita Laski) has inherited her property but isn't interested in computers/net and has ditched her broadband etc. Sorry for rambling --Scream!! (talk) 22:26, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Marghanita Laski?? P-Foster (talk) 22:35, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Marghanita Laski. This website's so SLOW! --Scream!! (talk) 22:46, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Further

Terry (SusanG) and I were friends and neighbours back in the 60s in Sheffield. We lost touch when we both left home and met again through a mutual acquaintance (Marghanita Laski) in about 1997. (ML and I used the same pub and ML was then a nurse and SG as a patient.) She and Jayne (ML) bought a house almost next door in 2000 - I tipped them off that it was for sale.
The deception (me editing as SusanG) was not intentional. I was piggybacking on her broadband WiFi using my netbook as Him but lost the password when said netbook blew up & had to borrow her laptop thereafter. She was an annoyingly stroppy little bird from time to time and would ostentatiously spray air freshener when I went round to her house - I'm a smoker and she hated it. Oh, I seem to have inherited her cats too, although to be fair they always spent as much time with me as with her. --Scream!! (talk) 14:31, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Scream!! Thanks very much for explaining everything. Redchuck.gif Генгисpillaging 09:27, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
I should have done it earlier but didn't know how to broach the subject. --Scream!! (talk) 10:11, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Don't take it personal, and thank you.

I'm probably going to de-sysop/block Susan's account, given that she's no longer around to use it and somebody else obviously has access to it. Nothing against you at all, but if, for whatever reason, someone else gets their hands on her old laptop and started to edit under her name, that would be weird. And thanks for passing the news along. She meant a lot to us here, as you can see. P-Foster (talk) 01:40, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

I'd have suggested it myself if I'd thought of it. Might as well do Toast as well. --Scream!! (talk) 01:41, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Grebes

I like grebes too. It's always a pleasure when one puts in an appearance, especially when it's completely unexpected - I saw one in one of the London parks and was very surprised. More people should appreciate the beauty of grebes. Totnesmartin (talk) 08:51, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

All our pond birds are great ... except possibly the coots ... and the Canada geese ... and the gulls .... The cats rather like mallards --Scream!! (talk) 10:16, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

I'd like to talk to you about a personal matter, but you don't seem to have email enabled. Could you enable it? I only have a very short message. Mei III (talk) 20:53, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

What you're doing isn't going to work out. Sorry. Mei III (talk) 22:08, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
You're probably right. (?) --Scream!! (talk) 01:41, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling

I don't think the British spell "skeptical" with two c's. At least, I've never seen it. Side note: Is UK spelling appropriate for an article about a phrase coined by an American comedian? Regardless, I did use Firefox's spellchecker as the manual suggests, and it tells me that "sceptical" is not a word. Also, the writer of the article seems to be American. ShorinBJ (talk) 06:34, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

  1. We, the British, do spell "sceptical" with two c's.
  2. Colbert is American, that's why I didn't change it back.
  3. Strangely the original author of the article is British/American but of the person who added the word in question I know not. Spellcheckers are unreliable when it comes to legitimate variants.
Oh, one other thing: we normally respond to a comment on the page where it's made thus avoiding what is known as "ping-ponging".
I apologise if I've jumped on you, I had a bad day yesterday.
All the best. --Scream!! (talk) 07:35, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Before Susan died....

...she made some noises about starting a new online project. Did anything ever become of that, or was she to ill to really move on it? Hope all is well, P-Foster (talk) 14:19, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Oh come on

You're much too obvious. It's like you're not even trying. 199.48.147.38 (talk) 08:44, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

for fixing my twigo:cp blunder. I will get the hang of all this soon hopefully. Too embarrassed to write articles at my current wiki-fu levels. joyaBAD KITTY! 00:50, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

My pleasure, have a look at help files specifically the "General" ones. Scream!! (talk) 00:53, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] I miss Susan.

Just sayin'. B♭maj7 (talk) Anachronistically anachronistic 04:31, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

She was awesome, one of my favourite RW users. Aceace 04:40, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
And a nice person IRL, as long as you didn't cross her! Scream!! (talk) 04:42, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Editing CP.

I edit CP from a different location to this, so displaying my IP shouldn't cause any problems. But, since I lurk here alot, figured I may aswell create an account regardless ModestGenius (talk) 17:14, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Health

I read your post in the SB. I do hope you are doing OK and that there hasn't been any permanent damage. Thank goodness for the NHS, whatever it's faults. Redchuck.gif ГенгисpillagingModerator 08:02, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

I too express well wishes for a speedy recovery after your recent heart attack. SJ Debaser 08:50, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks each. Blogged here and here. I'm OK for now but got to go in again in about 6 weeks. Scream!! (talk) 07:04, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Did you delete apatosis? yes? no? if yes why? — Unsigned, by: 94.145.205.69 / talk / contribs 18:12, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

We don't need or want copies of WP articles that have little connection with RW's mission. (specially when they're copied with WP formatting preserved) Scream!! (talk) 18:29, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
I want to fork these articles, because Wikipedian suppress information regarding it. Give me a brake plz. — Unsigned, by: 46.165.221.166 / talk / contribs 18:38, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
If they comply with RW's Mission and don't include a load of WP red stuff AND they're begun by a logged in member (as opposed to an IP/BON) they'd have more chance. Talk first, add stuff second. Scream!! (talk) 18:42, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
Go search who would want contribute to you. Instead of receiving a thank you, I get this. :) bye .1. — Unsigned, by: 109.163.233.194 / talk / contribs 18:50, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
