From the Edda
Valhalla, in Norse mythology, is the hall in Asgard (land of the gods) where half of those who died in battle are taken by Odin to be his Einherjar. They spend their days feasting, fighting, and drinking mead from the goat Heidrun. (However, the other half of the battle-dead get even luckier, as they are taken by Freyja.)

[edit] Also

  • A rather fun map in the video game Halo 3.
  • The Road to Valhalla
  • A key plot element in Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. It all burns down in the end, quite epicly.
