2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Debate:I don't belive in conspiracy theories and sensible (non-religious) sciences but I would rather be completley wrong with my opinions than right... am I a crank?

{{Jack the worried crank to be?}

Proposition[edit]

sorry guys I meant to say I do believe in sensible science. I recently read the page about cranks on the rational wiki page and I thought to my self that sounds like me apart from the fact I don't believe in stupid outlandish theories, could I be a crank that uses generally accepted sciences and evidence rather than pseudoscience or conspiracy theories? — Unsigned, by: 195.194.86.93 / talk / contribs

The definition directly states a crank is someone that believes in stupid outlandish theories that have little or no grounding in reality. However, many think they do believe in real sound science which is why so few listen to anyone else. So your question is kind of hard to answer. -EmeraldCityWanderer (talk) 15:04, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
