Liancourt Rocks (Japanese: 竹島 Takeshima, Korean: 獨島 독도 Dokdo) is a group of small islands in the Sea of Japan (East Sea).

There is a territorial dispute between Japan and Korea. For now, South Korea is effectively controlling it.

European name "Liancourt" is originates from a French ship that landed.



Japan's Shimane Prefecture enacted the Takeshima day on February 22, 2005.

In South Korea, a day ahead of Dokdo Day on October 25 in 2014.
