Bible Prophecy is a very confusing thing. Christians are taught that prophecy in the bible never fails, and talks about all the great prophecies that were fulfilled in the bible. However, the problem with this is the context. Most fulfilled prophecies are taken out of context, or were mistranslated. Rational Wiki has articles about this, so i won't go into detail here.
What I WILL go into datail is Shoehorning. This is one of the main contributing factors to my Atheism. In the last 5 Months of my Christianity I lived in a state of paranoia due to the end times about to happen, how all the Prophecies are being "fulfilled", etc. I later found out that no one can even agree on what Revelation is about! Preterists believe it already happened, idealists believe the book is spiritual, and Futurists are the Wingnuts we se today who say the Pope/UN/Obama depending on who you talk to. I will be descussing futurists because they are the ones who are constantly spouting about how the Illuminati will commence Project Bluebeam and Obama starts the New World Order with Satanism being the main religion.
The biggest problem is that NO ONE CAN AGREE ON ANYTHING! Who is the Beast in Revelation? Obama? The Pope? The UN?

Who is the Harlot? The UN? The US? Russia?

What is the Mark of the Beast? Barcodes? RFID chips? Sunday (Not kidding people think this)?

I've come the the conclusion that whatever current event that is happening, people will assume it is the end times. they will ALWAYS shoehorn current events. that's how Revelation is written. It's written in a way where ANY current event somehow can fit inside it. And they define words to whatever they want to.

This will keep happening throughout history. Religious nutters will always be convices Jesus will return absolutely in the next 5 minutes. It's been like this ever since the Religion was founded. Besides, no one can even agree on how to interpret the bible, so interpreting a book like revelation right would be impossible.
If a Christian only has one verse to support him, or only completely differe books (like quoting one verse from the book of hebres, and another verse from galatians), then ignore him. He probably has no support from the bible if that is the case. Every time Christians shoehorn, They quote ONE VERSE FROM REVELATION, then another one other verses from revelation other than the one right before or after it. Or they quote the verse and don't give you the verse number. If they do that, they're doing it wrong.
