RationalWiki's 2019 Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff – we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

If everyone who saw this today donated $5, we would meet our goal for 2019.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Forum talk:The Five Arguments for God

From RationalWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

There is very dodgy/wonky syllogism - the universe exists, therefore God exists; the first statement does not accept that 'things can create themselves' (summarizing the alternative premise) - or account for the things which do not exist. There is no direct relationship between 'objective moral values and duties' and God (and what about ethics? The Hippocratic Oath?) There are also errors of omission: most cultures with records that are accessible (including quoted by other groups) have one or more gods - is this something implanted by the god or gods, or part of human nature/the search for an explanation? And - what is the 'point' of beauty - [1], a shiny blue fly, Beethoven's Ninth or some astronomical feature? 82.44.143.26 (talk) 16:51, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
