Hey--on my lunch break I'm going to try to come back here and write something up about the use of mercenaries by the US. Hopefully it will make this a bit more . . . relevant.Researcher 18:49, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
- Awesome. As you can see by my "edit" to the article, I get grumpy over some of these uninformative stubs... humanbe in 19:08, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
- Too much work to do during lunch, I'll have to find time later to do it. But I'll put something up. Researcher 21:05, 19 September 2007 (EDT)

Frightening prospect?[edit]
"the fact that US has for the first time begun to employ them is a frightening prospect." Not frightening, just stupid. I work for the Dept. of Defense. Donald Rumsfeld tried to contract out everything to bypass career civil servants who make $20-30 an hour and hand off all the work to temp labor making $8-10 a hour. We're still in the process of rolling that back. Mega 21:53, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
- I'd still call that frightening. Actually, I'd call the simple existence of PMCs frightening, and I would further call any Republican attempt to fuck over government employees frightening too. --PosthumanHeresy (talk) 22:07, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Plastic jesus[edit]
Unfortunately not under CC so we can't repost, but funny (or scarily true) anyway.

After reading this article I have to say "Well, so much for Rational". This Wiki is no more rational than Wikipedia, and in fact, is actually less so. No, your political bias doesn't show at all!— Unsigned, by: 67.242.49.221 / talk / contribs

"Historical perspective and fears for the future"[edit]

"In that the US is considered the guarantor of global stability, the fact that US has for the first time begun to employ them is a frightening prospect."
The US (and everyone else) have used mercenaries countless times already, from the inception of the country onwards.
I'm opposed to the practice, and groups like Blackwater, but that sentence needs to be changed.
