Talk:Niburu
From RationalWiki
What. This is weird. TyrannisAn Iron, but caring, fist 21:43, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Appears to be a misspelling / alternate spelling of Nibiru. Nothing in this stub looks credible anyway. Wẽãšẽĩõĩď
Methinks it is a Weasel 23:03, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Delete then? TyrannisAn Iron, but caring, fist 23:57, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
I want to talk about it first. I think it's being sarcastic and embracing our "snark pov" but maybe I am wrong. Tmtoulouse (talk) 02:22, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- If it were snark it wouldn't link straight to the guy's site. Anyway, the main editor of the article is a CZ editor and seems to have made some genuine pseudoscientific claims before. Unless we can salvage it, I'd delete.--cm2 02:25, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Eh, I still think its parody, but lets see what can be salvaged. First things first is figuring out what the article should be, I see that this maybe a mispelling and we have a redirect already to a name...Tmtoulouse (talk) 02:30, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'm fairly new here and apparently misunderstood RW's aims and purposes when I added a small article; won't happen again. For your information: I don't believe in the existence of Niburu (not Nibiru), although I must admit that I was a Citizendium chemistry/physics editor. A link to an English page was given to prove that there are real living people who believe in Niburu. --P. Wormer (talk) 06:55, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think that your error is not in writing about this "planet" but in the rather dry, factual way you've written. Snark it up a bit: make it an RW article rather than an encyclopædia entry & it'll probably stand the test. Some more refs 'd be good though. 07:53, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- PS there's quite a bit out there eg 07:57, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- We already have a redirect for Nibiru that can be expanded into an article and articles about Zecharia Sitchin (RIP) and Planet X. This one should be merged with one of them or transformed into an article about niburunews.com/Anton Teuben.--ZooGuard (talk) 09:30, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know anything about this subject, but looking at Wikipedia, it appears that there are several pseudoscience theories about a planet Nibiru/Niburu (WP has Niburu as a redirect to Nibiru) with connection to the ancient astronauts & 2012 apocalypse myths. So our redirect page should probably be replaced with a short article covering some of these. I can't find Anton Teuben mentioned anywhere at Wikipedia (even Dutch Wikipedia) so I have doubts about how notable this particular theory is. It should probably be mentioned, with a link to the site, in an article along with the other more recognised theories such as Z Sitchin's. Wẽãšẽĩõĩď

- Just make it a redirect to Nibiru, which needs to be a full article as it's not just Sitchin's baby. Totnesmartin (talk) 19:31, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
- More to the original point, is this article so worthless than it should be deleted?Several ingredients (talk) 07:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
