Fair use template

No, it can't be added to the dropdown list, because it requires parameters. However, if you look at the edit tools below the edit form, above the usual useless symbols and stuff you'll find a bunch of image-related templates, including fair use. If you click that, it'll insert it with all the parameter names already typed out.

Well that stinks. I did find the insert button for fair use.

I understand if it's not possible, but I don't have to like it. It's frustrating to see a ton of templates no one uses (has even one image been uploaded under CC-BY-SA 2.0?), but one that should be commonly used (fair use) not listed.

To belabor my point, I'll go ahead and repeat what I've said elsewhere:

The giant dropdown list of licenses isn't especially useful beyond letting me know that, hey, RW has a ton of image copyright templates. Thanks for being unhelpful, giant dropdown list! Someday I'll know exactly when to use the Creative GNU Public Limited Release Pirate license! But, until then,I'll just keep leaving the license unspecified.

Take a look at RationalWiki:Upload then. It has specific pages for different types of files, including one for your own work which explains the various licenses, and only lists relevant ones.

I didn't know we had that page. Which is weird, because I just checked, and we do indeed have it linked in the green text boxes on the upload page. I suppose my eyes just sort glaze over them, since I've been uploading images for a while before its existence and didn't figure I needed help. That's what I get for being arrogant.

For a time the link in the toolbox pointed to that page instead of Special:Upload, but people didn't like it or something, I guess because it required them to read instructions.

The problem with all these pages, including the green boxes on Special:Upload is, that although they explain everything nicely, they're huge walls of text, so no-one bothers to read the instructions.

It's not possible because a drop down list doesn't let you input the parameters required by the fair use template. I guess we could just make a blanket fair use template that doesn't need parameters, but then you might as well just use the conservapirated template.

However, the fair use template is one click away when uploading a file, right below the edit form.
