RationalWiki's 2019 Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff – we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

If everyone seeing this today donates $5, we will meet our goal for 2019.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Stalin Denialism

Maoist Rebel News[edit]

See MRN Stalin Denialism

Stalin Society[edit]

The Stalin Society, according to their own website seeks to"[t]he Stalin Society was formed in 1991 to defend Stalin and his work on the basis of fact and to refute capitalist, revisionist, opportunist and Trotskyist propaganda directed against him." (http://www.stalinsociety.org.uk/)

Stalin personally signed 357 execution lists that authorized the Secret Police (which at the time of the Great Purge was part of the NKVD) to execute 40,000 people. 90% were confirmed shot. (http://www.paulbogdanor.com/left/soviet/famine/ellman1933.pdf) At the bear minimum, you can easily pin 40,000 deaths on Stalin.

Grover Furr[edit]

Modern day English Stalin apologist. Appears to put more stock in forced confessions and allusions to non-existent Nazi documents than official USSR documentation.

Katyn Massacre[edit]

"Nazis did it" is bullshit. Soviet documentation shows orders from Stalin to execute the Polish prisoners.

22,000 planned for execution, 21,718 confirmed shot (http://ipn.gov.pl/en/news/2006/decision-to-commence-investigation-into-katyn-massacre)

Holodomor Denial[edit]

Typical Stalin apologetics:

Fascist Propaganda

Lysenko did it/loss of central control

Choice Stalin quotes[edit]

When speaking with Milovan Djilas (Yugoslav communist party leader) about the brutality of the Red Army in retaliation while sweeping through Germany, Stalin said

"Well, then, imagine a man who has fought from Stalingrad to Belgrade - over a thousand kilometres of his own devastated land, across the dead bodies of his comrades an dearest ones. How can such a man react normally? and what is so awful in his having fun with a woman, after such horrors? You have imagined the Red Army to be ideal. And it is not, nor can it be... The important thing is that it fights the Germans."
" (M Djila,s Conversations with Stalin p. 87
