Singular "they"[edit]
Gimme a minute or few... and thanks for pitching in! Sprocket J Cogswell (talk) 20:15, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Sprocket: If you have problems with singular "they", I suggest you take it to the talk page of our gender-inclusive language article. Quite a big part of our article talks about it. Nullahnung (talk) 20:18, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- No kidding, Sherlock! That is where I meant to continue this, and have continued it. Sprocket J Cogswell (talk) 22:23, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Let's get down to defining terms here. I see a difficulty with singular they. I name the difficulty. This isn't some kind of axe-grinding thing ("you have a problem …": it's a real difficulty that arises with singular they, and it has to do with how humans process language. If that difficulty didn't exist, there'd be no reason to name it. But I don't believe in shoving things under the rug. Rhetorically: Is there a more appropriate place for contributing on the subject of singular they than an article that talks specifically about singular they? 66.233.207.101 (talk) 20:33, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- That is indeed the appropriate place, as you may already know. Sprocket J Cogswell (talk) 22:23, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
