2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

"Baldur's Gate"[edit]

Is that "Baldur" as in Baldr, the god who was killed by a mistletoe arrow? Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 07:33, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I believe the writers of the settings for D&D used numerous names from various mythologies, as well as making up their own. For example, one of the major demons is called Demogorgon, from the Biblical deity.--ADtalkModerator 08:51, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
It gets worse in the splatbooks. The Norse and Egyptian pantheons show up. My one e books have Arthurian fugures and the Chinese pantheon to boot. Тytalk 14:12, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Hmmm[edit]

I have this somewhere but never really got around to it. I think I might go dig it up and waste my afternoon on it. Scarlet A.pngtheist 12:27, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

If you discover you like it, you will waste more than one afternoon. The games comprise hundreds of playable hours, even if you only go through once.--ADtalkModerator 12:47, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
