Hello I was reading the article on Rokos Basilisk and it said to go on the talk page for more help if needed. It appears if this is where you are supposed to submit articles though so I am unsure if this is the correct thing to do. Anyways basically I don't have much understanding of these concepts, I just came across it while reading a celebrity gossip article about Elon Musk and Grimes and never expected to come across an idea that says "if you read this you are going to hell". I have been very upset an anxious. I read all the debunking but 1. I don't understand enough about physics to feel secure after reading them 2. I have obsessive tendencies and I am having a hard time letting go. It has upset me To the point of not being able to eat or sleep. To be honest I just feel that I really need some sort of concrete volition to stop worrying. Like when reading the debunking article it seemed to imply that it would only affect peoppe who understand the rest of these odd theories that lead up to it? I would be so grateful for some help. And in reality doesn't everyone who uses the internet contribute to machine learning with big data? I am just looking for some comforting thought. Thank you— Unsigned, by: MitziAsh / talk / contribs
- People say "you're going to hell" but they don't really mean it just as how people can tell others to "jump off a cliff" or "take a hike" but they don't expect things to follow through. They don't know what's going to happen either, they're not experts on the field of "hell". Do you think they have a thorough understanding of the specific qualifications one needs to go to hell? It's like saying you're going to be abducted by Martians. They're saying that just to scare you given what I said. Anyhow, I think you're supposed to respond on Talk:Roko's Basilisk, not on your own talk page. And also, sign with ~~~~. --It's-a me, LeftyGreenMario! 22:33, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- Roko's Basilisk is basically someone wondering "What if Skynet from the terminator films was real?" then writing a massive blog post about it. Based on the simple fact that people aren't being murdered by evil AI/robots from the future (and that's without going into the technical details) it's a pretty safe bet to assume it's all bunk. ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 22:56, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
