Hi. Nice to see you. :-)--Bobbing up 05:17, 12 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks Bob. I'll update my page with something meaningful when I get round to it (so, erm, probably never). I'm really just here to laugh at Conservapedia (I believe the technical term is 'lulz' but I've been wrong before. I'm an ardent atheist and believe in freedom of spelling! "I don't give a dam for a man who can only spell a word one way" - Mark Tawin.

It's getting so difficult to parody Conservapedia though as, well, they do a better job at it than any of us could! RedDog 05:22, 12 April 2008 (EDT)

Yes, lots of people come here from CP and our "What is going on" section (WIGO to the informed) is very popular. It would be nice if you put something on your user page though - it gets that red color off recent changes. :-)- even "Hello". There are lots of atheists (like me) here but there are some more religious types too. Have fun and I hope you enjoy yourself at RW.--Bobbing up 05:27, 12 April 2008 (EDT)
Done and done. Thanks again Bob. I'm new to this and appreciate the pointers. RedDog 11:52, 12 April 2008 (EDT)
I can (modestly) recommend a visit to the Help Pages! SusanG 12:17, 12 April 2008 (EDT)
Had a quick look and it answers lots of my questions already. Thanks Susan! RedDog 12:26, 12 April 2008 (EDT)

Your user page[edit]

Exactly right. There's nothing wrong with Conservative views in essence, it's the way CP editors shamelessly bend the truth and throw their weight around that I can't stand. <font=""; face="Comic Sans MS">Jellyfish!Hysterical and useless 16:26, 12 June 2008 (EDT)

Thank you Jelly. And don't get me wrong I don't think I agree with a single word CP comes out with (especially 'Godspeed'!) but I wouldn't be truly liberal if I didn't uphold their right to exist and spout nonsense! I found writing my user page really liberating as it helped me focus my views and think about exactly what I do and don't hate about good ol' CP. I really appreciate you taking the time to read it and post here. Thanks man. RedDog 16:38, 12 June 2008 (EDT)
Any time! :) <font=""; face="Comic Sans MS">Jellyfish!Hysterical and useless 16:45, 12 June 2008 (EDT)

User page and talk page[edit]

Hi Red. You may do what you like to your user page, but this talk page may not be deleted. RationalWiki:Community_Standards#Standards_of_Behavior.

  • An editor's User page space is inviolable; they are free to do with it what they want (common-sense-exceptions apply), and no one should edit it without permission. However, the user talk page space is public and does not belong to the user. No deletion of talk page material is permitted, but archiving may be done periodically.

But do you have some special problem?--Bobbing up 04:12, 4 July 2008 (EDT)

Hi Bob. Thanks for making that clear. I guess I knew that but thought if I clipped it away in small chunks no-one would notice. I don't have a special problem and I do appreciate what I see as genuine concern. In the last week or so I think some of my unrealistic expectations of this wiki were realised for exactly what they are. This place seems as full of egos, cliquiness (which I despise with a passion), hate and many other negative personality traits as CP. Of course it does. It is unrealistic to expect anything else. But I did. So I'm dissapointed and want to go back to watching only and not contributing. I have really enjoyed some moments at RW and did make a donation to reflect that. Oh - and I also could never understand where the dividing line is between humour based articles and factual ones. Some articles seem very well referenced and balanced. Others are a left wing joke the equal of anything at CP.
There were also one or two things that CP did that made me really angry. Really genuinly angry and I was dangerously close to hating some of them. There's enough anger and hate in the world without feeding it with what amounts to a troll site, which by the way is what I think CP is - they love provoking liberal outrage.
So look, there's nothing of any value on this page is there? Really - nothing. I know the rule book is quite clear on this matter (and I appreciate you referencing the relevent bit for me). But can we not leave the rule book for the Schlafly's of this world? Don't we pride ourselves on seeing people as people with individuel needs? In short can't we just bin it?
Hi Red. I'm sorry that you're disappointed with us - but hey, we're just a bunch of people who happened to land on the same web page. I take your point about understanding where lines are drawn here, it can take a while to get used to I'm afraid. Also as the site develops, (and hopefully matures) things which might have seemed all good fun to a small bunch of people take on a different light when seen by a multitude. I don't know.
Anyway, one of the things we decided on when creating the site was that talk pages shouldn't be "reverse edited" - that was one way to differentiate ourselves from CP where talk-page reality is constantly being edited in order to make it fit into their own reality. But I agree there is nothing here which is actually being hidden, so I would be inclined to agree with your request. But I can't change the rules by myself. That needs the Mob.
So I vote we delete Red Dog at his request. Who is in favour?--Bobbing up 05:23, 4 July 2008 (EDT)
Depends what you mean. Blanking the page and putting up "R E T I R E D" is fine, but we can't just delete talk pages, surely? I vote we delete the text but keep the history. <blink></blink> 05:28, 4 July 2008 (EDT)
