TEFL START[edit]

Just calling in to say :Hi; Wouldn't feel right to RW on here though. Toast 20:02, 19 August 2009 (UTC) Hi Toast. Well, it's pretty quiet generally, so you wouldn't scare the horses.--Bob M 20:49, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Bob, I don't know if you've seen this on the blog:
"we could invade Bob's wiki: possibly use a couple of pages there & copy them to RW when it's back & Bob could delete it there. If that's OK with Bob of course."
How do you feel about it? Toast 21:58, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh hai. Nutty Roux 22:27, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Hai! There's only me & thee, so far. Toast
And now four. As for the blog world, The Weeping Vagina is now open for business, although here is probably a lot easier. SuperJosh 22:51, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Five. Why the hell did you name your blog The Weeping Vagina?!?!?--PitchBlackMind 22:53, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Six. And it's funny to watch Philip try to sound reasonable when putting forward ideas that would sound like barking insanity when coming from anyone but a Creationist. Global flood? Humans starting from two people? The world 6000 years old? Only a Creationist could get away with that stuff without being laughed out of the room, but as it is they've got their own support group to prop up each others' illusions. --Kels 22:56, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
(EC) When CUR opened the Weeping Lion a couple of months ago Ace McWicked suggested calling it the Weeping Vagina. It's on RWW, but that seems to have vanished along with RW. Are they on the same server or something? SuperJosh 22:58, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
They are. For a while now :) Worm 23:12, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Ahhh, right. SuperJosh 12:48, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Please[edit]

don't make a mess here. We're guests and should behave with decorum. Toast 22:55, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I've already thanked Bob and apologised in advance. SuperJosh 22:58, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Help[edit]

I can't speak English as a first language, can you help me? Pi 23:01, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

No. --Kels 23:03, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

New pages[edit]

I've created WIGOCP & WIGO ASK Toast 23:05, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh dear :,-([edit]

Philip, I don't believe you! There's no equivalence

  • You: God did it in a period of (considerably) less than 6,000 years
Source: a book written by primitive tribesmen:
  • Me: Established physical laws of the universe did it over (up to) 4,000,000,000 years;
Source: experiment and reasoning by modern man:

Can't you see the difference? Seems like wilful ignorance to me: fingers in ears and "la, la, la." User 11speak to me 12:08, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

[post deleted and user blocked per "If you make any further accusations, I insist that you (a) make clear exactly what your accusation is (no hiding behind vagueness), and (b) provide evidence to back them up. Failure to do this will result in your accusation being deleted and your account blocked." The accusation was "Seems like wilful ignorance to me: fingers in ears and "la, la, la."". While I would normally allow some leeway, given the warnings, this is nothing more than mocking. The rest of the post did not constitute evidence for the accusation.] Philip J. Rayment discuss 15:11, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Toast 19:24, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Well of course it's nothing more than mocking, you faux-reasonable prat! Mocking is all your arguments deserve! Like I said, if anyone but a Creationist suggested this stuff, you'd think he was barking mad. As it is, you're barking mad anyway but you've got a multi-billion dollar support group that tells you that you're a genius. --Kels 19:31, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Splutter, splutter, BAN! (The reason I put 4 billion rather than 13.7 billion is that he was using (mostly) things to do with life rather than the universe.) Toast 19:51, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
To be honest I'm surprised you lasted this long. I gave up long ago when I saw where it was going. Totnesmartin 20:00, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
The number of times I wrote something, stood up, made a coffee, & came back to delete: "FUCKING WANKER"; "You are joking of course?"; "Go and read a book by someone with more than one braincell"; "your God is a fucking figment of your retarded imagination; etc; etc; you wouldn't believe. Toast 20:38, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I can't believe that his block excuse is "following instructions." Just a little authoritarian. {sterile} 22:22, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi there Refugee. (Dunno why but I feel somewhat protective about you. Strange: I haven't a maternal bone in my body) Toast 22:37, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I am a little pissed. Tonight 3 glasses of Hungarian Merlot! Toast 22:48, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
If they're letting you drink again, isn't that really good news re: your health care treatments? Human 23:08, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
It's the strictures: max 4 units/24 hours. That limits me to 2 short measures of scotch or 3 wines or 3 beers. As I'm totally not used to it, I'm flattened by even that. Toast 23:14, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
So at least you can enjoy it! For me, that would be called "getting ready to drink" ;) Human 23:45, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
that's more or less how I used to be: a couple of malts before going out to the pub & a half dozen or so when back. Apparently it's not all that good for you! Who'd a thunk it? Toast 23:49, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Hate to spoil your evening Toast, but three glasses of wine is probably closer to 5 units. A typical bottle (six pub-size 125 ml glasses) of 14% wine contains 10.5 units and a pint of 4% beer contains 2.3 units. Don't overdo it, we all want you to make the best recovery you can. Lily The Pink 06:13, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't want to spoil the party so I'll go... Human 06:20, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Thank god you're here, I was worried about you Refugee-lover! Ace McWicked 06:55, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, Lily, I know I'm stretching it but I'm home drinkin'. Like home schoolin' it's not quite the same as the real thing. I have small glasses of wine & drink bottled beer. and so far no spirits. I have a constant watchdog who ensures that I don't overdo it. Toast 12:40, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Ace: I'm watching you! Toast 12:40, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
it's great that you are watching out for me Toast, quite all right with me! :-) Refugee 22:18, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Challenge[edit]

Hey, not really sure how many people are checking the Pseudoscience section of the forum, so just wanted you to know that I'm issuing a challenge to all the members here: I'm sick of bullshit God-of-the-Gaps arguments that rely on distorting and misrepresenting High School level science. I want some bullshit God-of-the-Gaps arguments that rely on distorting and misrepresenting COLLEGE-level science. It will amuse me to no end if people who mock creationists (and, I'm guessing, most of you are atheists or agnostic, although I'm not) are able to come up with better arguments for creationism than the creationists themselves.--Mustex 01:46, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey there, I started Help:Screenshots, but it needs fleshing out by users of other OSs, platforma, etc. Heck, I can't even remember what that program I downloaded Screengrab! is called. Morning[edit]

Just thought I'd drop by and say hello. What's got you up so late/early? SJ Debaser 02:21, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

I was wondering the same about you, but then I remembered: student. We're at the other end of the scale being antiques so we tend to get up when we feel like it & go to bed likewise. We'll probably kip about 5:00 or so. The only thing that constrains us is shopping - the local Sainsbury filling station doesn't have a very good food selection so daytime is sometimes necessary. My other half used to work permanent nights so we got used to the inverted time thing. I am eating Toast& honeychat 02:28, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Haha :) Yeah, for some reason my housemates all go to bed before 12, but most nights I'm up 'til about 3AM when I don't have morning lectures. It's getting annoying though, I oughta go to bed earlier, but even when I'm up in the morning I can't sleep 'til very late. I'm sure I'm slowly developing some degree of insomnia. Or just a completely whacked out body clock. SJ Debaser 02:32, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
It's probably your body clock. Without a fixed time schedule we all tend to stretch the day. From memory people isolated without time cues run on a slowly increasing day length - up to 30+ hours. There's been research on it, I might google around. I am eating Toast& honeychat 02:37, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the body clock. Or my alarm clock. Typical shitty student house with a terrible landlord, electricity trips out half the time and my alarm clock goes off. Oh well. SJ Debaser 02:40, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Bi o' googlin': teenage zombies are not lazy ne’er-do-wells who won’t get out of bed, they’re made that way. In-built temporal biology means teenagers learn better later in the day, so we adults are making them go to school at times that don’t suit them. [2]; This is because teenagers have hormonal changes that make them sleep in later and go to sleep later than adults or young children[3] I am eating Toast& honeychat 02:52, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
I have a great book called Winston Churchill's Afternoon Nap which has a lot about sleep cycles, but not much about teenagers. All I know is I spent so much time on various "graveyard" shifts when young, I never got "normal" again, really. And people think it is so weird to get up at noon-2 or so and go to sleep at 4-6 AM. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:30, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Don't they just. Had the JWs round last week at 10 AM - they got short shrift from me in a short shift. I am eating Toast& honeychat 03:33, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Anyhow, I'm off to bed now at 3:43. JUst the cats to see to & coffee to make. Night night all. I am eating Toast& honeychat 03:43, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Well! I was d r a g g e d out of bed @ 8:30 & forced onto a train to Lincoln @ 10:13. Spent a month's food allowance on Stilton & books & then back on the 14:27. I'm knackered & going to bed! I am eating Toast& honeychat 15:44, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Haha! Ah, British rail. I know people are sick of Python quotes, but I do love the sketch about the train times, "Oh yes, I got the 10.13 to Lincoln and was there by a quarter to eleven!" and the like. Lincoln. Haven't been that far up north for literally about a decade. SJ Debaser 12:12, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Our lunch today
Well we got something out of it: that's £7.50's worth of Colston Basset & a litle pig pie (with the obligatory Branston). I am eating Toast& honeychat 12:21, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
I went downstairs with the intention of making lunch, but instead I just made a nice cup of tea to cheer me up. I'm making curry tonight so get ready for that picture. It will be some exciting stuff. SJ Debaser 12:46, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
