That green just doesn't look right... How about a different pair of shades of blue/purple? Or it might look better if that section had a very light green background so the header would match it? Also, I hate to say this, but although the links there were a great idea, they would fit nicely under the "contents" stuff. What do you think? humanUser talk:Human 19:18, 22 December 2007 (EST)
I'll let you fuss with the colors. Anything but the old, monotonous baby-colors scheme. As for fitting the links under the contents section, I disagree. The contents section is already a bit bloated. Additionally, I feel we need to draw special attention to the debates and essays. Really, they are the only thing that differentiates us from other wikis—that users are expected to express their opinions. The nature of the contents section is that everything in it is an article. While you can and are encouraged to contribute to them, their end goal is to be articles, not vehicles for personal expression. I feel that having a particular section that emphasizes the need for participation is highly valuable, more valuable than, say, stuffing it under the generic "contents" section. --Wandalise me Bohdan! RA talk stalkOver 300 edits! 19:51, 22 December 2007 (EST)

<-- Ah, ok, good points about the placement, thanks. I'll fuss with the colors and feel free to comment on what I do here, at my talk page, or main page talk.

By the way - that lining up probelm you mentioned is caused by an extra table of some sort on the right hand side. You can "see" it if you take the first bgcolor thing on the "right side" code and change it to 000000 and preview - you'll see a black line at the top, and chunk of black at the bottom. I am still trying to figure out what to remove to make that go away (I should sandbox it so I can break it over and over again without hurting the site!)

WIGO

RA: you know not of what you speak. The guy (TK) has no moral scruples - at all. I could throw him a hell of a lot further than I'd trust him. He's (allegedly) threatened to contact employers in the past. He's des[icable. (apologies for commenting here - my connection's too slow & my edit limit too small for the section) [BTW - there's no great responsibility with sysoppery - just helps to revert vandalism] SusanPurrrrrrr 14:56, 14 January 2008 (EST)

I know I have no experience with Conservapedia. But I believe it is best to assume delusion over malevolence. And from my own experience with him, I find that if (a)he doesn't know you and (b)he isn't provoked, TK is generally quite cordial. Besides, a large part of his alleged immorality was probably due to the environment of Conservapedia. Not everyone who goes there is going to avoid being corrupted by the toxic atmosphere of the site, Susan. --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 15:04, 14 January 2008 (EST)
RA, I think Susan knows of what she speaks. TK's history goes back before RW and CP at least to a site called "Hot or Not" where TK had been a moderator. When RW first started they were contacted by another former moderator of HoN who warned them that involvement with TK would lead to misery as he had virtually destroyed our moderator community at HoN because he had fomented in-fighting. TK became a sysop shortly after joining CP and established his own brand of authoritarianism with many editors being kicked out for the lamest of excuses. The "toxic environment" at CP really only started to develop after TK's elevation (I would hesitate to make a link between these events). After a group of "liberal" editors established RationalWiki 1.0 they were joined by TK who on one hand proceeded to verbally abuse and insult everyone in public but would communicate with individuals in private e-mails and IM claiming that he wanted to undermine CP and be very friendly, but he tended to play each one off against the other and sometimes added his own vandalism and plagiarism to CP. I just wonder what integrity TK has with all his manipulation? Probably he is not concerned about the values of the sites he frequents but just gets a kick out of pulling people's strings (as he does repeatedly with AmesG). He has also repeatedly claimed that people are who they are not, whether through malice or willful ignorance I don't know. However, claims were made on this site in the middle of 2007 that Fox was an RW sock, in an attempt to undermine his position at CP. And now TK is repeating the claims with the added bonus of incriminating BrainCo as well. These two may or may not be RW socks, I have no knowledge but what does it say of TK that he feels the need to say so either here or as Kbolton on CP (I have pretty strong evidence that TK is Kbolton but cannot reveal it without compromising others). So who is he trying to destroy - honest editors at CP , editors at RW or both? He probably doesn't really care, TK has flitted between RW and CP attempting to stir up discontent on both sites. He has also operated his own socks on both CP and RW. Your experiences with TK may have been amicable but I have seen several threads where he has suddenly turned nasty, you may think that threats of physical violence on internet sites or private emial are hyperbole but who can tell what someone might actually do in reality? I am sure that TK is pleasant to you and other recent editors here but he used similar tactics to disrupt HoN. His recent short-lived return to CP saw him trying to throw his weight around and he was leniently blocked by Fox for abusing other editors, something that would have earned a 5-year+ ban if he had been the giver rather than the receiver.
What I can congratulate TK for from a RationalWiki point of view is that sowing seeds of more doubt into Aschlafly's mind about who can or cannot be trusted only serves to hasten the demize of CP. Only one one new sysop (AS jr.) in the last five(?) months despite several departures shows that Andy doesn't know who to trust. PJR and DanH are obviously finding it hard going, SharonS has other things on her mind nowadays, DeborahB has been notably invisible and many other sysops are just dwindling away so trying to sabotage a revitalized Fox was a good move. Of the longterm nonsysop editors at CP Iduan is going, HelpJazz is still fighting for nightedit rights, BrianCo might as well pack it in as well as he will have been well and truly discredited, while Tash & Learntogether are not going anywhere either. Once that little group pack up and go home then Andy is going to be running CP with just Bethany and Karajou as his aides de camp and TK will be able to claim the credit. Poison Ivy 17:21, 14 January 2008 (EST)
WELL SAID! But one dispute. I don't think we set up Fox to discredit him, I actually thought he was a RW sock for a while (I remembered reading an e-mail, but I think I got him confused with someone else).-αmεσ (pirate) 17:28, 14 January 2008 (EST)
AmesG, that's the beauty of mudslinging, it always sticks. People though that Fox was a sock only because somebody kept repeating it. Truth be told is that Fox was just too good at tracking down vandalism by going through people's edit history. That's what lead to writing of the Information Warrior's Guide. Silly Bob. You haven't figured it out yet? --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 05:57, 20 January 2008 (EST)

rollback

"I wasn't aware the rollback button rolled back quite that far..." - quoth RA

Rollback undoes every edit the last editor made since the previous editor. Very handy for vandals who edit a file several times in a row, and of course it's also only one click. Undo only reverts the last edit. But I guess you know this now! humanUser talk:Human 11:53, 23 January 2008 (EST)

dashes

"And I'm STILL the only editor who knows how to make a dash. Its alt 0151, by the way, guys."

Wow, lighten up, there, RA. You can also use:

 • -- (easiest n dash, just two hyphens)
 • --- (easiest m dash, just 3 hyphens)
 • –
 • —

Also, spaces -- on each side of a dash -- make nice typography, although I don't think there is a universal standard on that. So there :P humanUser talk:Human 15:50, 24 January 2008 (EST)

 • -- (easiest) <—ugliest
 • --- <—there is an M-dash and an N-dash, so this is what, the MN-dash?
 • – <—wikicode equivalent. Too bad no one uses it
 • — <—ditto
 • – <—uses obscure code!
 • — <—more obscure code!
Ugly things up much, Human? :-) --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 15:58, 24 January 2008 (EST)
PS Since no one seems to care about formatting standards, I shall continue arbitrarily enforcing mine like the Format Nazi I am. :) --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 16:00, 24 January 2008 (EST)
What part of "lighten up" rubbed you the wrong way? The wiki dashes -- and --- are simple and easy and look exactly like the others - they are an n dash and an m dash. And we do care about formatting standards. We also have loose standards about things like deleting things from wigo and moving pages to "fun". You might want to be just a little nicer in your edit comments to the entire community? humanUser talk:Human 16:07, 24 January 2008 (EST)
I think he was just off showing and allowing us nonwikian peons to "see the code". But that's just my coupla alt+162's. Warren Terra 17:04, 24 January 2008 (EST)
You're probably right, but there are easier ways than playing with the alt key and memorizing numbers. There are also "friendlier" ways to off show. We all love an off show here, we larn from them! humanUser talk:Human 17:18, 24 January 2008 (EST)
I had assumed the smileys demonstrated that I had lightened up. Or was that not the case? What do I need to do? Add more? :-) :-) :-) :-) ;-) :-] :-| :-/ ;-\ :-$ Like that? Tell me! What do I need to do?! :-) --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 20:32, 24 January 2008 (EST)
Hehe, sometimes they just get lost in the words (and teh dust on my screen). They sure are easier to type, though. Bygones being set equal to bygones? humanUser talk:Human 20:49, 24 January 2008 (EST)

Deleting articles

Don't just delete articles without consultation please - a) they're sombody's baby. b) unilateral deletion's what goes on @ CP. Use the talk page or move to Fun - please. SusanPurrrrrrr 20:12, 29 January 2008 (EST)

Except for vandalism. And spam. And liberal deceit. And empty categories (usually). ThunderkatzHo! 20:14, 29 January 2008 (EST)
I guess this makes me the resident hardass, then. --Stabbythe Misanthrope, essayist 20:23, 29 January 2008 (EST)
Well, no, it makes you a loose cannon. If the article has content, state your case before flaying it, and let people confirm your opinion first. Usually a simple talk page comment gets the job done. humanUser talk:Human 20:57, 29 January 2008 (EST)
I thought loose cannons referred to rogue operators that stood chance at pissing off a lot of other people. ...Oh, wait. --Stabbythe Misanthrope, essayist 22:30, 29 January 2008 (EST)
You hurt my delicate megalomania feelings. Why, in this thread alone, Susan has called me a baby-killer and Kool-Aid drinker, and Human called me a free-moving projectile weapon. What next? I'm a sock of Icewedge? --Stabbythe Misanthrope, essayist 22:30, 29 January 2008 (EST)
You deign to infer that you might ever, ever, ever, be demoted to "sock of icewedge"? I call shenanigans! Only a select few of the mob have ever entered that inner circle! And only TK as sysop at CP is empowered to confer such a badge of honor clueless label --- and since he ain't no more, the club is closed! :P humanUser talk:Human 23:31, 29 January 2008 (EST)

deletion and mission issues

Hey, RA, could you please bring these up on articles' talk pages where anyone watching the article will know what's going on? No harm in also alerting anyone you think might be really "into" the article as well, of course. We also have both a "mission" and a "delete" template that can be used to deface the article while the mob discusses the issue. humanUser talk:Human 14:20, 30 January 2008 (EST)
