This website is the definition of propaganda. Propoganda is defined as 'information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view'.

This website is propaganda because it's authors include phrases that are socially viewed as negative, or 'crazy', instead if providing a logical argument. The information is chosen to prove the author's viewpoint, rather than allowing the reader to form their own conclusion based on all the measured data. — Unsigned, by: Roughneck / talk / contribs

Proposition[edit]

  1. I don't think you're wrong. Hell yeah, rationalwiki is absolutely fucking propaganda. I don't think it's deceptive, dishonest, or unfair. But it is biased, attempting to convince people of things, part of a coherent information campaign, and absolutely 100% a good thing. The other sides have propaganda, and they're shameless about lying.
Oh there's resources that aren't propaganda, that provide the same core information. Our articles frequently and often cite those sources. But we aren't satisfied, for example, with knowing the mere fact that homeopathy doesn't work. We want to convince people to stop using homeopathy. It is an idea, that if snuffed out, won't rekindle itself. And lives will be saved. And fraud will be stopped. And it'll be good.
And we aren't satisfied with the fact that creationism is bunk. We want to dissuade people from wasting the time and mental energy of millions of people by not ever having it taught in school. That's an agenda that is. That's bias. And it's great.
Oh and race science. There's a force that does serious and real harm in the world with their propaganda, pushing a viewpoint that the science says it's bunk? It not only helps people, but it deflates a movement that hurts people.
When you get right down to it, all the propaganda does is spread true information that dismantles harmful, mean spirited, and false information with, to be honest, well financed propaganda campaigns we can't hope to match on pure effort. But being right, and having propaganda that teaches people to be resilient against propaganda, these are good things. ikanreed 🐐Bleat at me 19:58, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Important takeaway[edit]

The original poster made no substantive arguments and made vague claims without evidence. I propose pointing and laughing. ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 20:05, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Also, author, "it's" isn't possessive. Every time you use "its" properly, another duckling becomes a swan. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 21:22, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

I normally don't point it out whenever it crops up, to be fair. I pick my grammar battles. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 21:51, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
