Looks like someone set up what I was hoping for... thanks :) ħumanUser talk:Human 01:19, 16 December 2008 (EST)

Something different[edit]

Changed the template a tad, all. Now instead of having the name of the user generated automatically, you now input it yourself, so that when you insert this on a talk page, you can actually direct the facsimile of that moron's invective at someone in particular. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 20:23, 19 December 2008 (EST)

Cool, but can you allow the option of the reader always having it be their name, too? Like, make that the default (if 1, use input, if not, use what it was before)? Because that was a cool feature you removed while adding another good one. ħumanUser talk:Human 21:26, 19 December 2008 (EST)
By the way, in doing what you did, you will have made every previous use of it screw up and just say {{{1}}}. Keep backwards compatibility in mind when changing templates... ħumanUser talk:Human 21:27, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Oops, I forgot that this had been used a couple of times already...hmm...for now I think I'll revert back to the old version, since it's slightly beyond my wiki skillz to make both possible...I will ponder this, however, as I think you're quite right, and both should be available. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 21:39, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Done and done. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 21:53, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Oh, thanks. Anyway, as far as the code you need. It looks like this sort of gibberish: {{{if {{{1}}}|{{{1}}} else {{{what we had before}}}}}} but that is completely wrong in places. I'm trying to remember a template that uses this so you can copy it. Oh, yeah template:welcome does. If you need a tighter guide let me know here and I'll dig it up somewhere for you. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:03, 19 December 2008 (EST)
I seem to have got both working, but now the problem is when someone adds a : to indent a post, it creates a huge break between the name and the body of text. I tried simply adding the {{{1}}} template to the source, but it doesn't work for the manual name insertion that way. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 22:08, 19 December 2008 (EST)

Yeah, colons totally screw it up either way right now. I'll take a look at what you have in there. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:13, 19 December 2008 (EST)

I think the span tags might not be helping. Can we put it back the way it was and test it in a sandbox til it works all ways? We could put the following below it and save/preview all we want:

{{assquote}} {{assquote|DopeSlipper}} :::{{assquote}} :::{{assquote|TripHammer}}

ħumanUser talk:Human 22:17, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Sounds like a plan. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 22:21, 19 December 2008 (EST)
I guess we need to be careful not to EC each other to death on this - do you want to copy the "almost working" version to a subpage here (and link it so I can find it), so we can both edit and preview it to death until we figure it out? I'll await your link. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:24, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Ah, yes yes, of course. Here's the raw data in sand box form: User:Yossarian/sandbox2, and here's the almost working sandbox template: User:Yossarian/sandbox. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 22:31, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Discovered something. If one just adds the {{{1}}} template to the raw data, then try to use that through the template, with the colons, it doesn't make an indent at all. Don't know if that helps any. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 23:23, 19 December 2008 (EST)

Thanks, I'll see you at the sandbox, if you aren't already done fixing it ;) ħumanUser talk:Human 23:32, 19 December 2008 (EST)

Not even close, lol. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 23:36, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Got it working. - User 00:51, 20 December 2008 (EST)
Are you sure? test pattern follows

"Anonymous User", have you ever read a scientific paper? I've responded to your concerns and answered your questions and you rely on hearsay, judges laugh at hearsay, so whether you admit it or not, I can tell you're trying to spread liberal hearsay. Furthermore, you deny that women knowing their place helps resist insanity. I repeat: I respect person's own talk pages. Massive floods that wipe out entire regions occur every few hundred years. Expand that to thousands of years and you do get floods of biblical proportions. That wipes out any alleged evolution. The truth shall set you free.--Andy Schlafly 01:44, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

"dumbass user", I reread the beginning of your rant at the top of this section and I think several of your postings are an example of liberal deceit, so regardless, I'm so confident that you're an apologist for Lenski. Denying this calls into question all of your credibility on the fact that women knowing their place helps resist sexually transmitted diseases. Contrary to what many of you obese atheists like to claim, E=mc2, which is still repeated and taught in Pavlovian manner by relativists, is simply false as a general equality. And your "photo" of Jesus riding a dinosaur is silly. Insistence on last wordism in violation of our rules, without contributing substance to this encyclopedia, could result in account blocking.--Aschlafly 01:44, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

"liberal troll" (you're not credible, liberal), I've responded to your concerns and answered your questions and found them to be barely related to the point at issue here, so I'm confident you're favoring immorality. I urge you, I beseech you, I beg you: accept that feudalism helps resist skateboarding. Do yourself a favor and admit that the revisionism of someone felt for centuries to be inspired by the devil cannot last here. Take your message to the general public, to a court of law, to a respected institution, or to your parents and see how many agree with you. ZERO.--aschlafly 01:44, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
Let me preview...
Nope, not working with colons yet. ħumanUser talk:Human 01:28, 20 December 2008 (EST)

Typo[edit]

""CE" denies historical basis, so it's obvious to me you'renot conservative enough for us" please to fix :) ħumanUser talk:Human 00:56, 18 February 2009 (EST)

Putting in fixed quotes[edit]

Is there any way this could insert a quote that remains fixed, instead of coming up different every time the page is loaded? To me, that's now the only thing that stops it being perfect.-- Kriss AkabusiAAAWOOOGAAAR!!1 12:02, 24 February 2009 (EST)

Hmm...I don't think there is. Or, at least I don't know of it (oh the volumes I could fill with what I don't know). Jeeves or Trent might be able to think up something. --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 19:07, 24 February 2009 (EST)
Do it manually? Put in the template, hit "preview", copy the result and paste it in? I guess you'd either have to pick a user to address or copy that username trick into your result, though. ħumanUser talk:Human 19:34, 24 February 2009 (EST)
That sounds like a good lo-tech solution. I just think that if you're lucky enough to get one where he signs his name 'Teh Assfly', it should be recorded for posterity.-- Kriss AkabusiAAAWOOOGAAAR!!1 05:30, 25 February 2009 (EST)
Hey wait - that option's been taken out anyway...-- Kriss AkabusiAAAWOOOGAAAR!!1 05:32, 25 February 2009 (EST)

Isn't that what the SUBST keyword is for? Lets have a go...

(OK, that didn't work, it doesn't eval the template first then subst in the result, it just substs in all the options. I guess there's no way to get it to work other than simply pasting the result manually.) --JeevesMkII The gentleman's gentleman at the other site 06:37, 25 February 2009 (EST)

Sadly, of course, c/ping will lose any links in the assquote, although I suppose they could tediously be redone manually also. ħumanUser talk:Human 19:53, 25 February 2009 (EST)

fixed time stamp test[edit]

"Yossarian" (obviously not your real name), there's no logic in your statement. I've analyzed your unconcise replies and your use of "BCE" and "CE" denies historical basis, so I'm confident you're an atheistic believer in the fantasy of extraterrestrial life. Your atheistic worldview has led you to deny that feudalism stops Hollywood values. As I've said before, we don't fall for the self-serving liberal claptrap here, whether it is considered "official" by the Associated Press or not. Don't read a book to learn, but write a book to learn. The truth shall set you free.--aschlafly 03:44, 1 March 2009 (EST)

"Anonymous User" (what an absurd user name that is), I don't have time to correct and respond to all your talk, talk, talk. I've analyzed your unconcise replies and it's the high word:substance ratio that characterizes the liberal every time, so it's obvious to me you're against Conservapedia. Like all atheists, you deny that chivalry deters crime. I repeat: I'm an engineer. GPS has nothing to do with Relativity. And if you really think "bananas" have equal chance of causing autism as vaccination, then further discussion with you is pointless. --Andy Schlafly 03:49, 1 March 2009 (EST)
Oh yay! You figured out how to do it. I was just gonna ask. :) --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 03:52, 1 March 2009 (EST)

Substing[edit]

See here and here. If you type {{subst:expand:User:Nx/sandbox3|Andy}} you get

"Andy", moral decay is so prevalent among feminists that no further talk-page debates about it are necessary or will be tolerated. I skimmed through your recent edits and I feel depression and animosity coming through in your comments, so let me guess: you're trying to spread socialist propaganda. Open your mind and admit that the Bush doctrine prevents against autism. Do yourself a favor and admit that if you received a good grade for the reciting liberal viewpoints, then it becomes even more difficult for you to reconsider. I just typed in "Saint Valentine's Day," and Wikipedia redirects me to the secular form, "Valentine's Day." Help yourself by opening your mind, before it's too late. --Andy Schlafly 17:01, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

-- Nx / talk 17:01, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

So if the template is directed to the "whoever is reading it" username, does it lock onto the first usage, does that stay variable? ħumanUser talk:Human 21:04, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
It stays variable:
"Anonymous User" (specialty not in breast cancer), mental illness is so prevalent among agnostics that I hardly think a citation is needed to demonstrate it. I've responded to your concerns and answered your questions and I doubt you've taken half the statistics courses that I have., so admit it: you're easily taken in by Hollywood Values. Furthermore, you deny that capitalizing Hell helps resist Evolution Syndrome. Got news for you: Carl Sagan was the public spokesmen for liberal scientists in the 1970s and 1980s, and an informal adviser to Jimmy Carter and other Democratic leaders. Run along now, and see how many people you can fool outside of Conservapedia. --Andy Schlafly 21:07, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
(that was {{subst:expand:User:Nx/sandbox3}}) -- Nx / talk 21:07, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Ah, cool. Although, the randomness is part of the fun... I guess at least each individual usage will be relatively unique. ħumanUser talk:Human 21:13, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Noone said you had to subst it. -- Nx / talk 21:14, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
This is amazing, this is. I've gone ahead and implemented it (hopefully not jumping the gun). --Purple George!YossieSpring in Fialta 23:34, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
