You know, just the other day an Antelope came up to me and was like, "hey kid, you want to try something new? It's fun... just don't tell your parents." Scarlet A.pngd hominem 14:45, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Balls! That throws my whole argument into turmoil! As liberals, let's ignore this point to support our own conclusion! SJ Debaser 09:37, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

It's about choice[edit]

My main concern about the article that you're rebutting is the underlying assumption that homosexuality is a choice. As such, your antelope analogy is spot on, how ever hard they try those antelopes aren't going to recruit many homo sapiens because it just ain't gonna happen (we'll leave the likes of CUR out of this for the while.)

So, the key issue is one of perception. The older gay helping the younger gay come out of the closet and come to terms with their sexuality is either

  • For those that believe homosexuality is a choice - an evil recruiter to an immoral lifestyle - the paedophile predator.
  • For those who know that it's not a choice - a helping hand through a difficult process.

Given how deeply entrenched the 'homosexuality == evil' thing is with fundies of all ilks they have to believe that homosexuality is a choice otherwise they are accepting that those who are homosexual are born evil with no hope of redemption. They are therefore logically forced to the first option. Silver Sloth (talk) 14:59, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Obviously they're in the mindset that it's a choice - a possible reason for this is that according to them, "Goddidit", God would have made homosexual men, meaning accepting (another) contradiction in biblical teachings. So for fundamentalists it's easier to blame eeeeeeevil people rather than their own religion - after all, humans were apparently created in the image of God, no? SJ Debaser 09:33, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
