The BSE image was obtained in collaboration with Dr. Ulf Kempe. SEM investigation was carried out at the Laborotory in Institut für Geologie (Freiberg) with the usage of JEOL JSM-7001F Scanning Electron Microscope. The imaging was carried out in BSE (back scattered electron) mode with following meter features: accelerating voltage 20kV; probe current 14 pA. The BSE image shows internal structure of zircon crystal intergrowth. This zircon refers to rare-metal porphyric granite (Verchneurmijsky granite massif, Amur River region, Far East, Russia). The cores of both zircon individuums are enriched with impurities. It is also observed concentrically divergent crack relaxation from the core borders to the edges of the grain. Moreover, the cores are intensively recrystallized to form a sponge-like structure and dissolution-reprecipitation products such as monazite and thorite-coffinite. Thin oscillatory zoning partially preserved in the cores and fully preserved in impurity’s depleted rims, along with prismatic shape of the cores with dwarfed bipyramid faces and their subsequent overgrowth, allow you to fix the evolutionary growth stages: crystals nucleation and intergrowth at the initial magmatic stage, in acidic media; overgrowth with bipyramids at the following magmatic step, escalation of ambience alkalinity; heterometry cracks, served as supply canals for the further impact of fluid phase, which was in active phase at a terminal granite-porphyry formation, resulting in recrystallization of cores, enriched with impurities.English: Tiny zircon grain with pacman and ghost relicts |
