The "%" refers to the percentage of what? Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 06:04, 19 October 2008 (EDT)

Percentage of your posts. So, e.g., Bugler made ~7% of all his posts between 6h and 7h ET, JessicaT's posting speed pikes at 9:30h, i.e., if she could hold this speed, she'd made ~18% of all her posts in just one hour. On average, you'd expect ~4.2% of your posts made per hour. An employed person will show a different rate during his work and his time off :-) (unlike Ed Poor, for example) --LArron 06:12, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
This is really cool! How did you collect the data? JazzMan 12:28, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Awesome graph! However, I have to quibble with the 4.2%/hour figure - that assumes an editor never sleeps (or works a rotating shift?). At four hours sleep per night, and "steady" editing, it would be 5%/hour. At eight hours downtime, 6.25%, and at a more reasonable ten hours down (sleep + eating + bathing) it's about 7% if the 14 "on line" hours are used equally. Which is about what we see with Po' Ed, with a slight peak where he eats lunch while editing each day ;) ħumanUser talk:Human 17:31, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Well, I took into account every post an editor contributed. So, the wave-form is just a symptom of a regular life-stile. For instance, working in shifts would result in leveling the curve.
BTW, check the new pic... --LArron 18:06, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
The RW one is funny, yeah. And the "rotating shift" thing I mentioned shows up with Susan's edits (she follows her partner's (a nurse) work schedule) - she edits at every hour of the day over time. ħumanUser talk:Human 20:12, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Could you make one of these for RationalWiki? Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 18:14, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Would we see that Human's is a straight line across the top? :P ArmondikoVpathetic 18:17, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
That wouldn't make sense - volume does not affect percentage. Also, I keep a vaguely consistent sleep schedule, as shown on the new image... ħumanUser talk:Human 20:12, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
Here it is... --LArron 18:20, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
How did you do it? JazzMan 18:26, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
I looked up the posts via the special pages with a perl script. That's not that much material ~200,000 posts for RW or ~450,000 posts for CP - perhaps 20,000 sites to look at. Any post has a time-stamp, so it's easy to get a daily distribution. I just smoothed it with a short moving average - et voilà --LArron 18:40, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
