This surely can't be GFDL - it's a book cover, so copyrighted? (we can claim fair use of this low resolution version, I think)

You can't just write GFDL on things that aren't. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Wic-cover.jpg: "This image is of a book cover, and the copyright for it is most likely owned either by the artist who created the cover or the publisher of the book. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of book covers

  • to illustrate an article discussing the book in question
  • on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Other use of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, might be copyright infringement.

Please be careful... humanUser talk:Human 18:43, 6 April 2008 (EDT)

By the way, "Velikovsky" is also mis-spelled in the image name... humanUser talk:Human 18:46, 6 April 2008 (EDT)

Mm - thought I had, I've got the quote above saved in notepad: must have missed it! SusanG 18:50, 6 April 2008 (EDT)

Ah, I see. You probably missed a ctrl-c and used the previous version. Hey, can you put links in these things when you load em up to where you got them? Some gfdl licenses require authorship mentions, it's a good way to do that. Rewording our "fair use" scam:
  • to illustrate an article discussing the (whatever) in question
  • on the mixed-language, money-losing RationalWiki, hosted on servers in the United States and perhaps Haiti,

By the way, just because WP can claim fair use, we can't necessarily do so. humanUser talk:Human 19:37, 6 April 2008 (EDT)

What is it with that font and the solid-color background? Every other book cover I've seen from the 1950s to 1970s seems to use that pattern. Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 04:03, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
