12-15 years ago it was a frikin' good paper—they even had w:Linda McQuaig. These days it's almost as bad as the G&M and Toronto Sun.Civic CatTalk to Civic Cat 00:04, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

To be fair, McQuaig's been talking out of her ass on the 70% marginal tax rate. And The Globe will be fine when Ibbitson, Wente, Gwyn and Yabaskuki retire or start writing for other newspapers. 173.32.30.79 (talk) 00:15, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Goes to show how little I read that paper these days. I didn't even know they hired the plagiarist Margaret Wente.Civic CatTalk to Civic Cat 00:18, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
They didn't hire her after her plagiarism row, her column's existed for years. Don't worry though, her articles have become so batshit that she'll eventually say something that will disgust the editors to the point that they won't care for her ability to link-bait. 173.32.30.79 (talk) 00:25, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Barbara Kay's "Controversy"[edit]

The article linked hardly describes a controversy. It appears to describe a incident during the 2006 Lebanon war she personally attacked several politicians for participating in a rally attended to by Hezbollah members who according to Mrs. Kay held some fairly anti-semitic placards during the rally in addition to other things. Her response to the Quebec Press Council's condemnation of her was relatively proffesional according the article. Whatever her other editorial stances may be, this controversy certainly does not portray her in a negative light and this article should not imply that it does. It was the moment when she claimed the creation of "Quebecistan," in a province with the second-highest population of Jews, where she embarrassed herself. Osaka Sun (talk) 02:24, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
Point taken but I still don't think this particular incident of shows her to be anymore of a wingnut than most pro-Israeli American Jews most of whom would probably agree with her views on Hezbollah. Nevertheless specifically mentioning the part in the article where she calls the province Quebecistan may deserve mention. Alsto003 (talk) 02:46, 15 July 2014 (UTC) Alex
