Where does this belong[edit]

This is definitely worthy of being at least an Essay. I'm glad we are hosting things like this, as they are great support for main articles. But is it worth being an article on its own? CorruptUser (talk) 01:33, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

I'm glad and proud we're hosting it. And, aside from Copyright status, I think it could stand as an article of its own, not an essay (an essay implies something different; we're documenting a finished letter here). Like, for example, our article Himmler on the execution of Jews already does. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 01:46, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
I agree with Reverend Black Percy. This letter deserves a spot as an article.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 02:21, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

2014 or 2016?[edit]

Is this the same letter as that recent case that's been blowing up on the web, with that Swimmer from Stanford? Was this in 2014 or 2016 or what? Considering the source on the page is actually from 2014. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 02:09, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Yes, it's the same case as the swimmer from Stanford.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 02:19, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
So, why is it blowing up now? I mean, if there were already articles being written in 2014 on it? Did it take two years for it to get to trial and so on? Reverend Black Percy (talk) 02:22, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Basically, the judge gave the raper a 6 month sentence (which means only 3 months in prison with good behavior) in spite of being pretty much a Lifetime Original Movie rape. This is in spite of the minimum sentence for rape being greater than this. So there's been an outcry, where rape leads to less time in prison than someone who gets caught smoking a joint. CorruptUser (talk) 02:24, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
I follow the plot that far already (but thanks for writing anyhow!) - my question is, did the rape take place in 2014? If so, when did the trial take place? Why has the media been all over this recently? Considering that 2014 isn't that recent. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 02:28, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
It actually happened in 2015, that link was for a different case. Sorry for the mix-up.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 02:26, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Ah, right. So I suspected. It didn't really make sense otherwise, I thought... Reverend Black Percy (talk) 02:28, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

The rapist has to register as a sex offender for life, and Stanford banned him from the campus. But the outrage is on the reaaallllly short sentence he was given. It's really nothing more than a slap on the wrist.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 02:32, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

I honestly wonder if I'd rather go to prison for 5 years or be on the sex offender registry permanently. Any thoughts?CorruptUser (talk) 02:37, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Well if you're in prison, you have a high chance of being beat up. On the registry, you don't have a high chance of being beat up. -DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 02:40, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
But if you are in prison, you'll be released eventually. You can look forward to the possibility of starting over, getting a job, and moving on. But on the registry, good look ever getting hired anywhere. CorruptUser (talk) 02:48, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
(EC) Well you are more likely to be raped in prison than in private life. Anyways, sex offender registries are too broad and punish people beyond their sentence by casting them as social outcasts. They increase recidivism because people aren't able to rejoin society.--Owlman (talk) (mail) 02:53, 13 June 2016 (UTC) 02:53, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Good point, but you will still have a record of being in prison. Hehe, I love friendly banter.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 02:55, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Despite the insanely soft sentencing and so on; atleast it warms my heart a little to hear that none of his upcoming life options is a bed of roses, atleast. Not saying it's enough. But it's something. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 03:13, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Yup, plus there' s a Change.org petition to impeach the judge who gave the rapist a short sentence.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 03:17, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
I saw that on Imgur earlier, it's a nice touch. Though I also read that you can't actually impeach judges via petition in the US. But still, the publicity matters enough I suppose... Reverend Black Percy (talk) 03:19, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
I just realized, this is my first real sustained conversation on this wiki. My talk page is not very big.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 03:27, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Well, in that case, I'm just extra happy to be your conversation partner! Reverend Black Percy (talk) 03:37, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Friendly banter, on the Internet?! Needs to be fixed.
Ahem.
Your mother was a jar of strawberry jelly and your father was a very confused teenager! Your genitals are several standard deviations above/below average in size (select as inappropriate for your gender), and your personal hygiene leaves much to be desired. @CorruptUser Oh no!! I'm so sad that friendly banter has broken down! (HEAVY SARCASM ALERT)-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 04:53, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

The rapist is out of jail[edit]

Unfortunately.-DιαμοπdDιςc1(talk) 04:02, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
