Telegram as a tool for the far right[edit]

In the suggestion for the Telegram page, there are 3 links talking about telegram: a Vox article made in the context of the Jan 6 Capitol attack in the US, a medium post about "Telegram’s ecosystem of far-right channels in the US", made in March, and a Deustche Welle article about Germany's "crack down on far-right Telegram users". The points raised by these articles should be addressed in the page before moving it outside the Draft namespace. Rabbitseatcarrots (talk) 10:49, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

E2E encryption and self-destruct messages[edit]

@Cosmikdebris, the fact it is not possible to prevent copying of "self-destruct" messages is not an error by E2E encryption. It achieved it's objective of encrypting the message so that only it's intended recipient can decrypt it, but it doesn't try anything more than that. If the recipient so wishes, they can copy the message and paste it everywhere on the Internet for everyone to read. Telegram itself acknowledges that it's self destruct feature only prevents very casual attempts at copying (that means, it tries to stop someone using the official Telegram app on a non-rooted/non-jailbroken device who doesn't care to take a photo using a separate device) Rabbitseatcarrots (talk) 17:58, 19 August 2022 (UTC).

Thanks for the clarification. My point was that clients should not assume that any advertised security solution provides complete protection. —cosmikdebris talk stalk 18:01, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
Nowadays cryptography is at a level that the weakest link is often the humans behind it: wp:Rubber-hose cryptanalysis. Rabbitseatcarrots (talk) 20:12, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Telegram TON[edit]

Almost forgot, Telegram had some cryptocurrency bullshit. Its whitepaper was truly something to behold. I tried adding it, but it was a bit too much for me right now, will try to add stuff about that SoonTM Rabbitseatcarrots (talk) 22:11, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
