Talk:Cyber-bullying

I'm not sure who wrote this, or if you have kids or are around US school systems, but cyber bullying is as real as real bullying. I think this article is pretty out of touch with what its like to be a bullied kid. "Just tough it out, kid, it's only trolling" (or it happens to everyone) is what i'm hearing here. Denver public schools did a study a few years ago, in their inner city schools, and they concluded just what everone knew. If you are the type to be bullied, it happens everywhere you go. on the play ground, on the bus, walking home, and yes, on your computer. Of the 5 or 6 suicides that proceeded the "it get's better", quite a few had reported instances of cyber bullying, and all of bullying in general. But, sure, we should just "tough it out", cause you know, being 13 and all, we know the real world isn't as ugly as highschool. Pink mowse.pngEn attendant Godot 21:17, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

I was the original author, and, after looking at my original, I think I agree with you that I was harsh and not understanding. I still hold that it is over-hyped, but I like the way this is turning out better than my pretty snide original. Klaus Vos (talk) 22:42, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Hack n' slash[edit]

Don't see the point in trying to polish a turd of an article, but have it your way. --Robledo (talk) 22:02, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Jeez, Rob, who crapped in your cornflakes this morning? I've seen worse. B♭maj7 So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world. 22:05, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
I crapped in them. That's what I call frosted flakes. Frosted with shit - by which I mean my feces. Aceof SpadesSilverbrain.png 22:11, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Good post! B♭maj7 So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world. 22:16, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

not snarky enough[edit]

Should contain more funny, less siding and being sorry. On a different note, why is there no seftion on trolling?--23.16.218.207 (talk) 06:43, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Cyber-bullying's a pretty serious issue, so it doesn't really need too much snark. Trolling's not necessarily cyber-bullying (unless it gets really bad, I suppose). Sam Tally-ho! 06:48, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Merge proposal with Bullying[edit]

Is "cyber-bullying" distinctive enough from bullying in general to deserve its own article? And many cases of bullying today involve both electronic and non-electronic aspects — e.g., kid gets picked on at school, then everyone goes home and picks on them over the Internet too (or even, using mobiles, picks on them electronically while they are at school.) While sometimes bullying is purely electronic, in other cases it is just one part of a broader pattern of bullying including non-electronic elements. (((Zack Martin))) 08:17, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Why the hyphen?[edit]

We don't really need that, do we? Landmartian (talk) 00:50, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
