Talk:Juan Perón

[1] I've been reading RationalWiki for a while now, and though I sometimes disagree with the content/tone, in this case I felt I needed to step in. The problem in this article is the loose usage of the word "dictator" to refer to Perón. [2] The usage is problematic because it seems arbitrary and biased. It was obviously used by an antiperonist, as they are the only people that use this word to refer to him. The "rational" in RationalWiki seems to translate as focused on "objectivity" and a fact-oriented mentality; but this use of the word was never linked to any references as to why it was being used. Being that it's the most controversial position (Perón was elected in democratic elections three times, and his authoritarianism is far from that of twentieth-century dictators, even if he admired some of them), it should be at least explicited as such. [3] I've eliminated the use of "dictator" on the page, but what would be actually interesting is to include a section debating this particularly important point with the appropriate references. — Unsigned, by: Edusav / talk / contribs

Someone who allows Nazis to hide from justice is a anti-semite. Prove me wrong. Epic Games (talk) 00:23, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

So, are the Americans behind operation paperclip anti-Semites? "Peron is an anti-Semite" is hardly the only explanation for harboring Nazis. He could have just wanted their technical expertise and knew these people were desperate for safe harbor. He did have...grandiose ideas about what Argentina would achieve under his rule.
At any rate, categories are not substitutes for content. If you are going to add the category you are going to have to put in a well cited section about his anti-Semitism. As I have had to remind so many editors over the years, you can't just slap a category on an article and call it a day.-Flandres (talk) 01:44, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
@Flandres No it wasn't about categories, if you look into the fossil record of the page you can see him revert an edit where I deleted a sentence saying that Peron wasn't an anti-semite. Epic Games (talk) 05:37, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
My bad, sorry. (Again, I get involved in a lot of disputes like this so I guess I jumped to conclusions.) On the other hand, even the Jewish virtual library is reluctant to call him an anti-Semite and notes he was one of the first Latin American leaders to open up relations with Israel, even saying he was sympathetic to Jewish rights. That's pretty hard evidence against your thesis.-Flandres (talk) 05:46, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
Of course, the underlying problem with this is that you are saying harboring Nazis (an awful thing to do at any rate) is anti-Semitic, when in reality being prejudiced against Jews is anti-Semitic. You have shown Peron was a dick, but you haven't really given evidence on this talk page he held prejudiced/bigoted views against Jewish people.-Flandres (talk) 05:57, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
harbouring nazis was realpolitik and done by all the allied nations post war. how does argentina doing the same make peron anti semitic? 'prove me wrong' - fuck off. prove your bullshit claim TrollAMassiveGay (talk) 07:32, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
I guess your right @Flandres and @AMassiveGay take a chill pill. Epic Games (talk) 03:29, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
