Mission[edit]

How is this relevant? –Nazis are bad and I don't like them 02:38, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Agreed, this is not the other wiki. Captain Swing (bringer of nachos) 02:42, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Great example of seasteading, in both the Libertarian/Objectionist twist and the Dominionism/White Supremacist twist. A great example of Video Games NOT being mindless crap like some claim, and the reactions of said Objectionist/Racists to being casted in a negative light. I think that justifies this being here. --Revolverman (talk) 03:39, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
It could possibly be worth keeping if it's a portral of topics that we document. It doesn't seem totally useless. –Nazis are bad and I don't like them 04:11, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
This article needs a lot of work, but so many themes and (dare I say it) tropes in the series are related to our mission. --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 15:29, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

System shock was better. This is only slightly on-mission and, to boot, almost entirely composed of a person's opinion. Appreciate the effort of the contributor but move to essay-space/delete. Tielec01 (talk) 01:37, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Fuck OFF with System shock. It wasn't that good. --Revolverman (talk) 01:40, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
Ima let you finish, but Crysis was the best shooter of all time!--"Shut up, Brx." 01:53, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
This is not "slightly on-mission." The first BioShock is arguably the most scathing attack of Objectivism on a digital medium, and Infinite is pissing off a lot of wingnuts (even though the Vox Populi can be interpreted as a criticism of Occupy Wall Street). The article needs a full revamp though. Osaka Sun (talk) 01:58, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
I'm still not clear on procedure here, can we move it to Essayspace, with a note that anyone can collaborate on it? Right now, this article should not be in mainspace, where it can be found through "random page". But yeah, these video games touch on a great many things pertinent to our interests. --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 02:05, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
I've done a lot of work on it, I can move it to my space and we can work on it there. --Revolverman (talk) 03:00, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
Sounds good, let's do that! Thank you. --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 03:04, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
The current missionality of the article is marginal; although the article could potentially be bang on target. My advice to the authors, to avoid sinking too many resources into an article that may never make mainspace, is to avoid personal interpretations of the video game. I'm not sure if there is a similar article on a seminal fictional book that deconstructed a political ideology to use as a template? Tielec01 (talk) 23:49, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Organization[edit]

Organizing the article by game led to synopses, which are ultimately unnecessary. Let's divide it by topic instead?

  • I. Intro (with brief synopses, perhaps)
  • II. Politics
a. American exceptionalism
b. Objectivism
c. Socialism
  • III. Transhumanism
a. Genetic engineering
b. Involuntary experimentation
  • IV. Quantum Stuff

--TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 13:43, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

I'd move the Politics in order of the games (Objectivism, Socialism, Dominionism/American Exceptionalism) and perhaps something about the claim that Video games are mindless children corrupters and how wrong that is, but besides that, it looks like a good layout. --Revolverman (talk) 23:27, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
