Talk:Missionary position

I have profound issues with this article. When paraphrased it says that "Christians have dull sex lives". Whilst some fundamentalist Christians have issues with sex that is a long way from "all Christians have sex in the missionary position with the lights out." The statement traditionally Christians taught that sex should be done in the missionary position only needs a citation - badly.

Debunking religion is one thing, descending to the level of abuse I'd expect from CP is another. Jack Hughes (talk) 10:38, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

The article says Christians sometimes have dull sex lives. There are many different types of Christians and one should not generalise. here's a citation about Christians traditionally teaching that sex should be done in the missionary position. I'm not Jesus (talk) 11:07, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

CyberCollege has such a stylish front page that it brings tears to my eyes. The text you are citing itself is an exemplar of scholarship, with its many references and clearly identified author.--ZooGuard (talk) 11:49, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Having spent all of a few minutes on this I've not found any Christian sources which say "Missionary position only". I've found some non-Christian ones which say Christians say (or said) this - but what would be needed is a Christian source.--BobSpring is sprung! 13:45, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
I can't find much either. There's a metric fuck ton of crap to read through on Be Thinking but nothing that seems to advocate missionary only. Scarlet A.pngbomination 16:03, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Missionaries' position[edit]

This seems an appropriate position for the following (possibly an urban legend)

Some missionary priests go to a tribe which still is not aware of the relationship between sex and reproduction (apparently some foodstuffs have a somewhat contraceptic effect, so it might not be immediately obvious). The priests start with 'God the father...' They are asked to explain, so do so. The locals then say 'Prove it.' 82.44.143.26 (talk) 17:20, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

My position on the missionality of this article[edit]

Position as form of gender determination[edit]

I have heard from a reliable (but anecdotal) source that the missionary position is more effective in conceiving girls while other positions (e.g. doggy style) are more effective in conceiving boys. Something about X-chromosomal sperm being stronger than Y-chromosomal sperm, and the alternative positions give the weaker Y-chromosomal sperm a more fighting-chance to get to the ovum before the X-chromosomal sperm.

But I don't know if that's an urban legend or not...but it does have some implications, if church officials were aware of it (even if it was just through anecdotal evidence as well). --Sethpeck (talk) 22:07, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Celibacy[edit]

"rabbis and priests (most of whom were celibate)."

Almost no rabbis are celibate. Are we certain this source is reliable? Hipocrite (talk) 19:52, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Given who wrote it, I doubt it. Evil fascistoh noez 19:57, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Delete[edit]

This doesn't seem very well informed & has nothing to do with anything anyway. Delete. WẽãšẽĩõĩďWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 20:29, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
