"Face it, you can't Torquemada anything." - is there some odd joke there that I am just not getting? ħumanUser talk:Human 16:48, 18 October 2008 (EDT)

History of the World Part 1. Pronounce it more like "Tahk-eh-mada" and it might help. ThunderkatzHo! 16:49, 18 October 2008 (EDT)

Traitor[edit]

There is an interesting scene in the movie Traitor in which the terrorist leader in the US is trying to convince the main character (played by Don Cheadle--can't remember the character name now) that taqiyya allowed them all to drink all the alcohol and eat all the pork they wanted, with Don's (very devout Muslim) character not having any of it. Neutrality[edit]

This article is not neutral when words like bigots are used for critics of Islam. — Unsigned, by: 91.49.228.181 / talk / contribs

RationalWiki does not have a Neutral Point of View, it takes sides quite frequently. --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 15:41, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Transmission of hadith presented[edit]

This article presents a hadith, but makes no mention of its isnad (i.e. who says someone says the Prophet actually said that?). My understanding is that that's considered to be a somewhat big deal in evaluating hadith, and the furthest back I can trace this bit from the reference (of sorts) given is late eight to early ninth century (or late second to early third AH) so... can anyone help out with this? Ahmad 6:459 appears to be an obscure hadith, probably not worth inclusion.
An alternate source is the Sahih MuslimWikipedia, a much more respected hadith, lifespan of author, 204 AH - 261 AH: Sahih Muslim 32:6303: "Ibn Shihab said he did not hear that exemption was granted in anything what the people speak as lie but in three cases: in battle, for bringing reconciliation amongst persons and the narration of the words of the husband to his wife, and the narration of the words of a wife to her husband (in a twisted form in order to bring reconciliation between them)."
However, this merely states that lies are acceptable to bring peace, as I read it, rather than war being deception. 32℉uzzy, 0℃atPotato (talk/stalk) 15:17, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
That might be a touch better... I guess I'll go see what else from whom else I can drag up also, though I am running against the stumbling block of speaking largely from my posterior w.r.t. Islamic theology. PacWalker 15:34, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Added a Qur'an section and expanded the Hadith section. FuzzyDogPotato (talk/stalk) 17:21, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
