Bot account (sticky)

NoiseBot, for editing Edit Filters and not clogging up RC. NoiseBot (talk) 05:16, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

That red button- what does it do? Should I press it? MĖSSIÅH ØF DØØM Weird attention whoreDolan.png 05:35, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
It blocks that account. Only press it if that bot goes awry or, in this case, if an edit filter goes haywire as a means of drawing my attention to an edit filter problem. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 06:25, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Dude

You need to hear this. DØØM MĖSSIÅH Why weepest thou?Dolan.png 09:34, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Been there, heard that. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 09:46, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Say, you're a tech of one stripe or another

I'm going to try to send you an email to see if it goes through. More details can be found here. Assuming my being unable to email people isn't a deliberate design decision, you might want to tell David Gerard whether you've received it, and possibly assist him in resolving the issue (assuming it's an issue, assuming it's worth resolving, and assuming you and/or DG have the time, capacity, or interest to resolve it. When I assume, it makes an ass out of u and me. Mostly me, you'll be pleased to learn.)

Also, I've successfully emailed you before, with you replying, so I figure this'll make for a half-decent control.

Thank you for fulfilling your accept duties as volunteer tech of some sort (I know you're a tech, but I don't remember if you have server access or other stuff). As a RationalWiki user, I am grateful for the times you have properly used your time and tech powers to benefit the site. I'll listen to a Casualties song in your honor (you like them, right?). And maybe move my head back and forth to the rhythm, cos I'm all rocknroll that way.

While I'm at it, are shorter messages from me more or less painful for you to read? It would help me if I'm looking to be polite and considerate towards you to know. Which I am now. srsly. no joke. like, I haven't insulted you or anything and I've even thanked you and praised you. I'm pretty sure this matches somebody's definition of polite and considerate. Hopefully also yours.--"Shut up, Brx." 17:19, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

I still am not sure I entirely understand what the fuck you are talking about. So, by that measure, shorter messages that are to the point are much better. Also, I received an e-mail from you in my old e-mail account the other day, but given its contents and the fact that it went to an old e-mail account, I'm not sure if it was spam or not. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 18:25, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
tl;dr, I'm testing to see if I can email people.
Can you email me the address/contents of the email in question? Someone I know received a spam email with my name, but from an address I do not use, and I'd like to be able to nail down what's going on with that.
I would, but I deleted it already and there is no way for me to recover it. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 19:22, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
Was it an ad, or a link? When was it sent? Did it use brxbrx or my IRL name? Anything you can remember would be helpful--"Shut up, Brx." 19:28, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
The subject was something like "Check this out," and it contained a link to some Dr. Oz promo spam site. And it came from your "Camera Trixter" IRL name, not Brxbrx. That's about all I remember. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 21:34, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. I won't trouble you about this further.--"Shut up, Brx." 00:26, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
RNS, I have sent you a test email to see if this problem is wiki-wide or only affecting Brx. Please let me know if you receive this email. MĖSSIÅH ØF DØØM Suffer! Bastard!Dolan.png 23:37, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
You dipshit attention whores realize that Goonie isn't a server admin, right? And since people like you gravitate toward each other, don't you think testing this blessed problem is something you could do amongst yourselves, since nobody else wants to hear from either of you? Nutty Roux (talk) 00:13, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Why, thank you for the kind advice, Nutty Roux. But you see, we have already tested it amongst ourselves. That's how we discovered the issue. So then, I tried emailing David Gerard, who is the server admin, and just to be sure, I tried emailing RNS, who I was unsure whether he was the server admin, but I knew he had some sort of role in the proper technical functioning of the site, and figured he wouldn't be terribly bothered by checking to see whether or not he'd received a test email.
And if the problem does indeed only affect Doom Messiah and I, wouldn't it still be prudent to make sure nobody else is affected? Anyways, out of courtesy to RNS, I suggest you take any further "advice" to my talk page, that we (or rather, I) not annoy him with a conversation that has nothing to do with him. Better yet, you could try emailing me, instead of posting to my talk page! That way you could see if this is indeed a site-wide issue. That, or simply shut the fuck up and go back into hiding instead of trying to make people miserable, you pathetic troll. Whichever you think is a better use of your time.--"Shut up, Brx." 00:26, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Ok. I take advice from an unemployable racist dropout whose only social outlet is now concern trolling people who loathe him. Too bad you're you, chuckles. Nutty Roux (talk) 14:55, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

I will try to be succinct

  • My IP address is still blocked because you didn't uncheck the "Block IP" function the last time you blocked me for 24 hours (which was today)
  • You removed my sysop rights despite my having agreed to do as David Gerard asked
  • Telling you that you are wrong, regardless of whether or not you believe you are wrong, and doing so not by blocking you, but only in the process of unblocking myself does not in any way contribute to a bannable offense, or a reason to remove my sysop rights.

You don't like me? Fine. But just because you don't like somebody doesn't mean you get to erase them from the wiki.

Please restore my sysop rights, thank you.-brxbrx00:42, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

I'll unblock you, but you have no right to be a sysop. Being a self-rightous asshole when you were clearly wrong about something that is the essence of serious business on this Wiki is conduct unbecoming a sysop in my book. Alas, I'll let the moderators decide that one. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 00:47, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Forgetting everything else going on, if you're going to "joke block" or "message block" someone, please uncheck the option to block their IP beforehand.--"Shut up, Brx." 01:54, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
I am going to restore sysop rights since this is a ridiculous abuse of your power RNS. No matter how annoying you find Brx he clearly admitted he was wrong and had moved on. Stop trying to bully a user off the site, your tactics are nowhere near as subtle or surreptitious as it seems you think they are. Tielec01 (talk) 01:56, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Do you even know what you're talking about, moron? No, Brxbrx was trying to keep something up on talk:Kevin Martin that was being taken down because of the possible legal ramifications. After numerous people pointed this out to him, he got indignant and mouthed off the everybody. Nowhere have I seen him admit that he's wrong. And the fact that he was wrong about something very serious and still will not only not admit that he was wrong, but blames the people who said it was wrong it the only reason I see him as unfit for being a sysop. As I said right above me, I took it to the moderator's page so they can sort it out. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 02:12, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
You want me to admit I'm wrong? Is that what this is about? brx with a facefull of humble pie? Well, if what wasn't posted here and on T:ATIM isn't enough, then here you go:
I was wrong. I was incorrect. What I thought Nutty Roux was doing was not actually what he was doing. I should not have reverted him. I should not have reverted him a second time. I should not have even entered into the discussion he reverted.
If I had a webcam, and a hat, I'd upload a youtube video of me eating my hat. I. Was. Wrong. I admit that.--"Shut up, Brx." 02:23, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I know what I'm talking about. Would I be right to remove your sysop powers simply because I thought you are behaving poorly here and started a topic on the moderators page? Of course not. You dislike Brx, that doesn't mean you get to remove his sysop rights. Tielec01 (talk) 02:17, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
This has NOTHING to do with whether or not I like the guy. He made a bad decision about something that had bad legal ramifications for the RMF, and is unsympathetic about making such a bad call. If you want to foot the RMF's legal bill as a result of that bad judgement call, then be my guest. In the meanwhile, it shows that he doesn't have good enough judgement to represent their interests on this site as an administrator. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 02:20, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Dontcha wanna take it up with the moderators first?

Or do tech powers make you overlord of RationalWiki? Also, did you not read the article you linked?--"Shut up, Brx." 04:05, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

I read that article, but it was for your reference, not mine. There is a specific reason that link was removed, but I will respect the RMF's legal precidence here. As far as the mods go, no. I am instead sending a e-mail to the RMF board itself. You are a threat to them. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 04:11, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I've brought you to the coop.--"Shut up, Brx." 04:35, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Good luck. It won't mean shit when the Trustees have their say. Moron. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 04:40, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I'm sure Sterile will be very eager to ban me. Meanwhile, everybody else is going to look at what's going on: you removing my sysop rights for disagreeing with you. Also, just to make sure you're up to date (I posted on Tielec01's talk page as well), the article you linked to specifically mentions this:
The laws suggest that one who publishes a false statement harmful to the interests of another is subject to liability for pecuniary loss resulting to the other, as noted in Nesewat v Salem (1999 FED App. 0119P (6th Cir.) )
(a) he intends for publication of the statement to result in harm to interests of the other having a pecuniary value, or either recognizes or should recognize that it is likely to do so, and
(b) he knows that the statement is false or acts in reckless disregard to its truth or falsity
--"Shut up, Brx." 04:48, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I didn't do this because you are disagreeing with me, you fucking moron. I did it because you are arguing about whether or not content removed as libelous was actually libelous. Since it was, and you think otherwise and seem to want to prove otherwise when a court would disagree, then you are a terrible representative of this site and are certainly not worth giving administrative rights to. But keep pretending you have a royal flush on a bluff. I will keep calling your bluff. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 04:53, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

RE:Talk:Kevin Martin

I understood your point and I am sorry if I cause any misunderstanding, sir. I think it is maybe good idea to consult you about it rather or not it is controversial before putting it down. Thank you for warning me about it. Now I going to head back to work. Daniiieeeel (talk) 14:51, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan. Have a good day buddy. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 18:36, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, sir. My contacts have bring to my attention of this document today. The document fill in the gap in the last sentence of the section of NOAA and NWS. Since I not good at integrating and referencing it into the article, could you help me made sure I am doing it right and proofread my edit? Thank in advance, sir. --Daniiieeeel (talk) 19:24, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
I will get to work on it after I get home from work and am not edit via smart phone. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 01:14, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

the Coop

I am a former officer and member of the RMF trustees. As such, I have a knack for [what] constitutes legally harmful behavior

That's a good one. I'll remember that next time Dick Cheney says, "I am a former constitutional office holder and trustee of the nation's secrets, as such I have a knack for what constitutes legally harmful behavior..." nobs"It all depends what Isil is" 22:48, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

So long as he is only referring to what constitutes libelous statements made on the internet, which was the context within which I said that.... Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 22:57, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
well I'm a former sober person, as such I know what constitutes normal behavior. nobs"It all depends what Isil is" 23:05, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

broken bot

Hey, RNS, I think your bot is broken. IPs have made edits and they haven't even been silently reverted.--109.163.234.2 (talk) 00:17, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Nope, I disabled that code because I thought (or hoped) you'd fucked off. See this revision. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 00:56, 10 October 2014 (UC)

You can view deleted revisions from the same page you use for restoring them - just click on the datestamp, the revision's code will be displayed.--ZooGuard (talk) 19:15, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

I know, but it was easier to do it that way from my Android. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 19:29, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

RNS you lousy thug

I remember when I was a sysop here you had a softspot for the trolls, Erin used to always kiss your ass and I'll be you even knew who she is. I remember you made an account called MarcusC to stick up for Robert too. How about if I kiss your ass, will you pamper me too?

What did Erin look like nude? She was such an ass kisser to you I know damn good and well she sent you nudes. Was she hot? - redacted

Who is this sad wanker anyway? Marcus, or Dirk Steele? Clearly, somebody's off his meds again. PsyGremlinSprich! 01:41, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
I've always wanted to use that that template that returns the username of the person viewing. If I could remember that template I would totally reply with "I suspect <username>". That would be sweet. Tielec01 (talk) 01:45, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Even though I know exactly what that code does, I'm still going to pretend to be offended by it. You monster! - Grant (talk) 01:54, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
