User:Ipatrol believes this should be deleted because it's a copyright violation. We've been through this already, and I believe the consensus was to keep them unless someone complains. -- Nx / talk 20:36, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I believe--though I'm not certain--that I is right on this. Do you have links to said discussion? TheoryOfPractice 20:39, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
The most recent one was when CUR uploaded images from SG. RationalWiki:Saloon_bar/Archive2#Stargate_Copyright -- Nx / talk 20:48, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

The uses of this image all fail the fair use requirements. A screenshot of ASK might be fair use as commentary on the event shown in the image, but all this does is violate Nickelodeon's copyright unnecessarily.--Ipatrol 21:18, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I dont think it is that cut and dry, for example see the Yoko Ono case that was ruled fair use with the Expelled movie. tmtoulouse 04:41, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Irrelevant, 5...4...3...2...1...

Wikipedia has a very strict policy regarding non-free images, but this is not Wikipedia, and you're trying to apply Wikipedia's policy here. A quote from wp:fair use: "In short, we must often… look to the nature and objects of the selections made, the quantity and value of the materials used, and the degree in which the use may prejudice the sale, or diminish the profits, or supersede the objects, of the original work." I doubt this single image will diminish the profits of Nickelodeon ... that said, I don't mind either way, but if you want to delete this, you'll have to a) track down and delete every single image that fails Wikipedia's strict policy regarding images, and b) convince the mob that we should adopt that policy. Good luck. --  Nx/talk  17:32, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
