Forum:Is the RationalWiki Community Large Enough to Hold A Rationalist Convention?

I think it'd be great to have a convention for fellow rationalists. We could get guests like James Randi (just an example, I know that's far fetched). We could trick New Age folk and Creationists into giving lectures, and then the audience could offer their inquiry and criticisms. Maybe I'm in over my head here, but it'd be nice to have something, even if we can't get any big names or pseudoscience proponents involved. - Radical Zap

Do we have any backers? Where would we have it? Space Turbo (talk) 01:35, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
The anser is no, if only because so many of us (including numerous community heavies) are not even in the same country, let alone continent. --Miekal 01:48, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

No, except if the community partnered qith another group, and that'd kinda defeat the original idea. (Though a meetup could be cool.) FuzzyCatPotato™ (talk/stalk) 02:56, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

As far as I remember there's only been one meeting of more than two RWians. Two users were due to be in Chicago at the same time (on other business) and met up with another who lived there. It wasn't really a convention, though. There was a period when several people in London were all active here, but I don't recall them having a conflab. BicyclewheelModerator 09:09, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

There was also a year ago when a small group of RWians (Tyrannis, Dumpling, Blue and myself) met up in Louisiana, though that wasn't exactly a convention so much as it was a everybody in town at once and wanting to meet up for coffee and reading of and making fun of terrible fan fiction. 65.128.160.80 (talk) 10:20, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
