2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Points of order[edit]

If an editor of RW has transgressed, the "correct" order of remedial efforts should, it seems to me, follow this process:

1. Potential promotion. It is assumed that anyone here long enough to piss someone off has been sysopped. This has to be done at RW:Admin abuse, and done properly.

2. Vandal binning discussion to decide if they are truly horribly disruptive.

3. Discussing punitive blocks. While the VB slows down most troublemakers, reasonable blocks for high crimes and misdemeanors against the wiki can be discussed.

This is the logical series of escalating sanctions, it seems to me, and at every step alleged transgressions should be thoroughly documented, not merely asserted. ħumanUser talk:Human 01:57, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

I am happy that we at least have discussions on perma-banning rather than just offing people we disagree with. I agree with Human's above proposal wholeheartedly--Thanatos (talk) 02:07, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
