Any interest in a reboot?[edit]

I’ve got a Lemmy instance up on a small Hetzner host. It’s primarily meant to be a platform to develop a better frontend and moderation tools than what comes with Lemmy, but I don’t mind keeping the main instance stable and opening it up to SneerClub and RationalWiki folks. Registration will ask for your Mastodon or RationalWiki name so I can keep out spammers. Federation is also disabled for now, but can easily be enabled if desired once enough people have admin privileges to curb abuse. If it gets popular to the point where performance starts to suffer, I can migrate the instance to a new host in the cluster that’ll roughly double its available resources. The deployment source code for the instance is also available, if folks like the Lemmy idea but would prefer to host it elsewhere. That code should deploy a secure and fairly scalable (by Lemmy standards) instance to anything running NixOS. If anyone goes that route, definitely remember to change the SSH and sops (secret management) keys, and the initial_admin_password, before deploying. Zzt (talk) 18:55, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
