Essay:The BNP and the EU elections
It's a Long Way Back to Germany...[edit]
I was out this fair morn and came home at shortly after eleven in the morning, and the postman was delivering to my house. I was listening to the Ramones at the time and flying a paper airplane, so the postman kind of nodded uncertaintly at me as I smiled at him walking into my house.
Anyway, I pick up the post, and with the normal letters were campaign leaflets for the UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party - supports withdrawal from the European Union) and the BNP - which you've heard of if you're English and are probably somewhat aware of if you're American. I think these were posted with the normal letters, because if they hadn't, they would have been pushed onto the floor by the postman's letters afterwards - but they were still in the actual letterbox.
Basically, I thought I'd scan it and just show the Rationalwikians what the leaflet has on it.
Side one[edit]
“”Because it's not racist to oppose mass immigration and political correctness - it's commonsense!
|
We see a happy little white family. They're got the reference to the Battle of Britain at the top of the page there, invoking British patriotism. We've earned the right to have "British Jobs for British Workers." Thanks for that. Everyone knows that the white British man has gone through his hardships in history.
The slogan "not racist to oppose mass immigration" has appeared on every campaign leaflet I can remember seeing in the last few years from the BNP - essentially becoming the one thing I can remember from their leaflets apart from the BNP letters wanking with the Union Jack. When a political party has to defend itself from racism in campaign leaflets such as this, it shines a light on its racist history. Hopefully, this will remind the voters more disillusioned with the mainstream Labour, Liberal Democrats and Conservative parties that the BNP was born a racist organisation.
Side Two[edit]
“”British workers first - every time!
|
No. They mean white workers first every time. The BNP regards all non-white UK passport holders as "temporary guests" or something along the lines of that. The most ridiculous thing about this is the fact that the BNP regard people of black or Asian descent as "guests", even though today in the UK, many black and asian communities are comprised of citizens who have lived their whole lives in the UK. More to the point, a white man of American parentage born in the UK with a UK passport would not suffer deportation in the highly unlikely event of a BNP headed government simply because of the colour of his skin. An Indian man, on the other hand, born in the UK with a UK passport would be kicked out of the UK by these fascists based on the colour of his skin. Notice the lack of ethnic diversity in the leaflets.
"As a doctor I want to see an end to 'health tourists...'" This simply makes me laugh. Get a doctor, or an academic or another public figure who is generally seen with respect and stick them on a campaign leaflet as a proponent of your views. "I'm a big doctor type, yah-de-yah-de-yah-da." I also doubt very much the man photographed is a real doctor, as this would reduce his credibility and jepoardise his career in doctoring. (Afternote: thanks to Jeeves for finding where the BNP got their doctor photo from!)
And look at the happy elderly couple in the photo. They're having a whale of a time aren't they? No pictures of party leader Nick Griffin in his white power t-shirt for this campaign leaflet thank you very much!
Conclusion[edit]
This was basically a rant with no real point to prove. I simply wanted to share with the community my views on the BNP and bring their campaign to light. I hope I speak for all of us Rationalwikians when I say the British National Party, its membership, its votership, and those sympathetic with its white power policies can fornicate themselves with an iron stick.
