Talk:Bible translation
A duplicate[edit]
This article is by and large a duplicate of the better organized Bible translations. As far as I can tell, we really say little about the problems with translating the Bible (or any work for that matter) into any other language. I'd like to "dump" this article into the other article, and use this one for a more focused discussion of the art and challenges of bible translation? If no one objects. I want to make sure we don't already have such an article tucked away under a different title, though. Apocalypse[edit]
A Christian once told me that the end of the world will come after the Bible has been translated into every language. Is there an ounce of truth to this? Swerve (talk) 21:54, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
William Beck's "An American Translation"[edit]
No mention of this from 1963? I think it's mostly a Lutheran thing, yet worth mentioning. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beck%27s_American_Translation 76.20.233.58 (talk) 03:22, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
Elohom is not a female name...[edit]
In Hebrew, Elohim is not a female name, it's a plural male form of El. Elohin (notice the "n") would be the female plural.
Interestingly, a plural female group with a single male would be referred to with a male plural form.
Binyan Kal, present tense Root alone = single male form (ani [m], atah, hu) Root + final he (with dagesh) = single female form (ani [f], at, hi) Root + u (vav) = plural "us" form (anachnu) Root + im (yod mem [sofit]) = plural male form (atem, hem) Root + in (yod nun [sofit]) = plural female form (hem, hen)
So who added that, and what are their references on that?
