Talk:Billy Graham
Categories[edit]
I would like to point out that some of the descriptions about Billy Graham are not entirely accurate. For example this article describes him as a creationist, however, he actually promoted theistic evolution and that the Bible should not be viewed as a science book, and he said all this in 1964! As for him being a homophobe, I don't think there's any evidence that Billy said the things he said about Chick Fil A and that he was likely a puppet for the political persuasions of his batshit Republican son Franklin Graham (and to a lesser extent, his daughter Anne Graham Lotz). Steve Knight, a former employee of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association communications division, questioned whether the statements the elder Graham were true or not. Knight believed that it wasn't true. It's well-known that all of his sermons, articles, letters, and books were ghostwritten and there’s also a track record in recent years of Franklin Graham redirecting his parents' positions against their own wishes. Franklin Graham would not name the other contributors to the statement and said his father would not speak publicly: “That ain’t gonna happen. I can promise you that.” Also given Billy Graham age and health, it doesn't seem likely that he would've written this down online. As for him being a fundamentalist, I don't think anyone being a registered Democrat, supporting evolution and believing in Christian Universalism is someone to be considered a fundamentalist.
