Talk:Demurrage currency

"The easiest way to save the money that you possess that is denominated in demurrage currency is to exchange it for a non-demurrage currency (or other asset), so that shouldn't even be necessary."

While demurrage is a shitty idea, the previous statemant is not true. Assuming the point of demurrage is really to make people spend money (and this is not just some lie to bring people into demurrage, like as some example using popeye to make people eat spinach), if they buy gold or bitcoins with the demurrage currency, they ARE spending the demurrage money and so the problem is fixed. Why buying a good boat or good plane is considered using money but buying an expensive painting or gold is not? Also the demurrage money will go to the guy that sold the thing and this person will need to use this demurraged money he got or he will lose it because of demurrage law.

PS: I am not saying demurrage system is a good idea, just exposing "buying expensive art, gold and bitcoin" dont hurt demurrage (well, unless you also think that planned obsolescence is a thing that MUST be done, than buying gold, expensive art, bitcoin is not the same as buying a car, a computer, tv, cellphone.....)— Unsigned, by: 177.92.128.26 / talk

"Perhaps this is because, unlike with the gold standard conspiracy theories, there are no seedy demurrage currency sellers online seeking to drum up interest in their products."

Freicoin is a demurrage crypto, so there are people already trying to sell demurrage coins, this coin has both bitcoin style demurrage inflation and also demurage (some amount that amounts to 5% per month).186.212.175.130 (talk) 13:02, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
