Comment[edit]
I started to change this, but then i stopped, incase the primary author wants to make this an Essay space, and not an article. It really is not article style, and i think it would make a good stripped down article, but i also like it as an Essay. or both? I'm making the changes I'd suggest if this is a wiki article, in a user space, so the original doesn't get bollixed. — Unsigned, by: WaitingforGodot / talk / contribs
- I think with a lot of work this is an on-mission mainspace article. With a lot of work. P-Foster (talk) 00:28, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- User:WaitingforGodot/indians This is what I'm doodling with. It's a good start (his essay), it just needs lots of wikifying. --En attendant Godot 00:31, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- Can you not just edit the article here, since it's an article here in the mainspace? I've already done a bunch of work on one section and if two or more people are editing it in two separate spaces that's not really efficient. P-Foster (talk) 00:35, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- That is true. Ok, digging in... :-) --En attendant Godot 00:40, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

- This could get ugly. ;-) En attendant Godot 00:49, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

San Salvador Island[edit]
Something about this article that sticks out is the problematic historicity of the "4,000,000 killed" claim made regarding Columbus' activities on San Salvador Island. That number appears to be drawn from http://americanindiansource.com/columbusday.html, which itself makes the claim without citation. Read its narrative for yourselves, but it asserts he and his Spaniards eradicated millions on the island over a four-year period (something I haven't been able to find elsewhere). I dunno, but that seems impossible; the island has only 63 square miles of land to it, which is about three times the size of Manhattan, but with that many millions of people it would have a similar density to modern Manhattan. Today the island supports less than a thousand residents. However one regards the man, this strikes me as more hyperbolic than factual. — Unsigned, by: CetteFoisDemain / talk / contribs
