Suggest an actual critical review or deletion[edit]
As I wrote in an edit summary, I haven't watched the movie and really don't intend to, so my snarky and critical changes to the article reflects simply my response to the rather naive cheering on of the film by the OP of this article (though the OP at least saw through the truther BS).
If anyone has the patience to watch and respond to what sounds like a dreadful piece of apocalyptic FUD (with this particular genre's salivating Schadenfreude), please do so with my blessings and thanks (better you than me, pal). ScepticWombat (talk) 23:40, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- Not to rehash my own text, but as I also said regarding A Crude Awakening: If anything (but keeping it as is), the contents of this article should be merged with the main Peak Oil article. We shouldn't lose track of these particular documentaries that roam about the web, never mind since most if not all of them claim to present "new" or "novel" or "never-before-put-into-flowchart-format" concepts and discoveries regarding these isses - something the truthers will always be able to accuse us of ignorance over. So even if everyone agrees on the worst about this specific article, atleast bake notice of the movie, its name, and the valuable bits of information regarding it into the main Peak Oil article. - Also, I've actually seen this one (once in a time before the NWO corrupted me and made me a willing sceptical contributor here). Worst case I'll rewatch it and add more to article *sigh*. But don't expect that anytime soon. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 01:40, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- Cool, but don't forget to add your "keep" vote to AFD, then. I was just getting suspicious that obscure peak oil "documentaries" were getting articles on RW because then we could start giving every kind of pseudodocumentary present on YT its own article.
- Your suggestion of slapping this into peak oil sounds reasonable (and make this article a redirect), especially considering that the peak oil article is quite short. I'd suggest bundling up the highlights from both this film and A Crude Awakening into a sort of (s)hit parade of peaker arguments (and what makes them cranky) to avoid spreading them out into multiple articles on peaker films. Unless a film is a "classic" in peaker lore, I don't see much of a reason to give it its own article. ScepticWombat (talk) 06:40, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- I think I just voted by writing there (really, I'm kind of new to writing wikis, so I'm not trying to sound like an ass - I'm literally guessing that that was a vote?). It's very clear to me that mention and critical review of these documentaries (to make them findable on RW via google search) is very important. But it's also counterproductive as hell to spread them all out as their own stub orphan articles. Clearly by just baking these into the main Peak Oil article and taking notice of their similarities/differences, we'll be able to make an enlightening and snarky tapestry out of them all. And we won't miss notice of them. Also, adding redirects is a given - good idea. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 14:56, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
