BlackLivesMatter[edit]
When you mention cops being apart of KKK rallies you should probably add a link to what specific person you are referring to--Bonesquad11 (talk) 14:32, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
George Floyd[edit]
In the George Floyd section, should we change 'killing' to 'murder' since the jury convicted Chauvin on all charges? BurnOutHQ 13:27, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
Sources[edit]
I'm seeing some issues with invalid source names, but I can't seem to figure out if the references that are causing errors are meant to refer to sources already used here. 21:46, 5 July 2021 (UTC)Quantumgeek333 (talk)
George Floyd correction[edit]
The medical examiner stated that, in his opinion (as a forensic pathologist), Chauvin's knee placement would not have cut off Floyd's airway [1]. The medical examiner also states that "it did not appear to [him] on the video that [Chauvin's] knee would have been able to occlude the carotid artery." Before this statement, he clarifies that he is not an expert in watching videos. However, he further states that "even if it were [occluded], normal people have two carotid arteries, and the unoccluded carotid artery would continue to supply blood to the brain." [2] The ME explains in his testimony, that Floyd suffered from an underlying heart disease, which, when combined with the increased levels of adrenaline from the arrest (as well as the methamphetamine in his system, which is known to increase adrenaline), increased the burden on his heart, narrowed his capillaries, and caused heart and lung failure.
I suggest you listen to the notice at the top of the page: "Whatever is credible should be sourced, and what is not should be removed." A majority of the "information" is not sourced. Also, I recommend you use firsthand sources, not Politico. 19ZXA, 080047Z AUG 25 — Unsigned, by: 19ZXA / talk / contribs
- And yet the jury convicted Derek Chauvin of murder anyway. Clearly they didn't find the medical examiner's testimony very compelling. Also, we're not gonna remove some information that is credibly sourced (Politico is a reliable source despite your beef with them) just because it triggers you. - And they were wrong to do so. If this were a case in which a white defendant was found not guilty of murder simply because he's white, would you be defending it because the jury found him not guilty? The point is not the part that is credibly sourced, it's the part that isn't sourced at all (the parts where it says citation needed), which comprises the majority of the section. To say Chauvin blocked Floyd's airway is factually incorrect, as per the ME's testimony under oath, and the official coroner's report. The ME is a firsthand expert, and the coroner's report is a firsthand source, which should trump a Politico article, which is a secondhand source. @Antares 19ZXA (talk) 00:06, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
- I would like to point out that Wikipedia has an article on the murder of George Floyd
and they have an entire section on his autopsies. GeeJayKWhere all evil dwells Where every lie is true 00:17, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
