RationalWiki's 2019 Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff – we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

If everyone who saw this today donated $5, we would meet our goal for 2019.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Talk:Revealed religion

Can you name a single non-revelation religion? This definition seems to encompass almost every religion.Researcher 16:50, 27 December 2007 (EST)

My thoughts exactly. Buddhism, LDS, Mormonism, Rhode Island (wait!), etc. A religion has to have some source, which could pretty much be defined as a revelation of some kind. I don't think we really need this article. humanUser talk:Human 16:54, 27 December 2007 (EST)
I think there is supposed to be a technical definition, usually between either religions that are based on revelation and those based on "philosophical reasoning" (e.g. Deism). The other distinction I've seen in the past is one based on a relevation to a SINGLE person (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism) and those based on long-standing traditions, etc. (Hinduism, Judaism, Vodun).
