2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

The problem is[edit]

There is 'expressing sympathy/encouraging people to try something new/advertising' and similar - which may have neutral-to-positive intents and results (if you have a cold 'hot lemon and ginger with some sugar' may have some benefit and at least you feel you are doing something; and 'at least you have tried TV program X and it does not appeal to you if you are asked about it') and then there is 'the obvious woo and worse' - but the problem arises with the fuzzy middle area, where things sound plausible/there is some independent evidence of the statements being at least partially correct. The second problem is - the fuzzy middle ground and 'the negative field' differ from person to person. 86.191.20.133 (talk) 10:25, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
