We already have superstition and magical thinking. This stub seems a bit redundant. ŴêâŝêîôîďMethinks it is a Weasel 07:03, 4 February 2009 (EST)
- "Wishful Thinking" as a term can be a slightly separate issue, but on this scale, it's worth redriecting. ArmondikoVd hominem 10:20, 4 February 2009 (EST)
For the record, I've dug up this article and added an explanation of wishful thinking. IMHO, there's a subtle difference with "magical thinking". narchist 12:50, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I think wishful thinking is different from magical thinking, but I don't think the article reflects this. IMO, wishful thinking is deciding something is true based on the ramifications of the conclusions, instead of the evidence for or against it. Often the correlation=causation stuff from magical thinking is used tot try and provide evidence for their foregone conclusion, but this is not necessarily so. To name a pretty big example, I'd say that the belief in heaven is wishful thinking, but not magical thinking as defined in RW's article. What do you think? --GTac (talk) 20:51, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
