This template is to be used for storing holiday decorations that have appeared on the recent changes page in the past, and are likely to be used again. This page is included on MediaWiki:Recentchangestext.
Use[edit]
Place the name of the current holiday in between the comments <!-- HOLIDAY HERE -->
and <!-- END HOLIDAY -->
at the top of the page. For no holiday, leave it blank. The following holiday names are valid and will give a message:
- Conservapedia boycott
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- Groundhog Day
- St. Valentine's Day
- St. Valentine's Day 2
- Vernal Equinox
- Easter
- May Day
- Bastille Day
- Talk Like a Pirate Day
- Guy Fawkes Day
- Christmas
- Winter Solstice
- Boxing Day
- Kwanzaa
The following holiday names are valid, but do not yet have a message and will simply say No message for this holiday yet when used. Please add an appropriate message for these holidays by editing Template:Holydaze/inner.
- Passover
- April Fool's Day
- Summer Solstice
- Autumnal Equinox
- All Hallows Eve
- Armistice Day
- Remembrance Day
- Veteran's Day
- Pearl Harbor Day
- Chanukah
Auto mode[edit]
This template has an option to automatically display certain holidays. To turn automated mode on, change the auto
parameter's value to yes
. When auto mode is on, the messages for most of the holidays will display on the correct days automatically as long as the first parameter is blank. If there is already a holiday filled in for the first parameter, it will always override auto mode.
Adding new messages[edit]
To add a new message to this template, edit Template:Holydaze/inner and add the new message under the correct holiday name, making sure to preserve the formatting. If you're not sure about a message or not sure how to add it properly, discuss it at Template talk:Holydaze.
