Hello. I am initiating an experiment in an alternative online encyclopedia, an alternative to Wikipedia and Conservapedia. The main idea behind it is to allow serious contributors to write the encyclopedia they want, and readers to transparently read the encyclopedia they want. This later part will require updates to the mediawiki software. Meantime, I have kludged together a convention for doing this using the existing interface.
Can anybody here advise how to attract experienced and tolerant contributors who are interested in seeing if such a project can work? By tolerant, I mean tolerant of political views you may find extreme, such as perhaps Lyndon LaRouche, paleo-conservativism, politically active Christian fundamentalists, etc. I need help bouncing ideas off of experienced wiki users for site-wide rules.
Basically, parody won't be allowed, but content or POV forks will be, subject to a minimal set of site-wide rules.
The formation of groups, cliques, and cabals will be allowed, and membership and governance of the cabals can be left to whatever form they determine, be that representative, mob rule, etc. Members may be kicked from cabals for violating their rules, but then they are free to go form (or attempt to form) their own group.
Parody and commentary of other articles will not be allowed (though this will be admittedly difficult to police in the case of clever parodists). Editing of articles owned by other groups will only be allowed subject to the group's rules, or to remove content that violates site-wide rules (e.g., violations of BLP).
It may sound fantastic, but the goal is to either replace Wikipedia through a similar foundation, or induce Wikipedia to adopt an approach that allows content forks on articles.
